  • In this role, you’ll work in an interdisciplinary environment where design, product, and engineering collaborate closely throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • You’ll balance user needs, technical constraints, and business goals while advocating for usability, accessibility, and coherence across a growing platform.

  • Facilitate synthesis and alignment sessions using agile and lean methodologies
  • Create user journeys, service maps, and flows that capture current and future states
  • Produce wireframes, interactive prototypes, visual designs, and detailed specifications
  • Partner with Accessibility specialists to ensure inclusive, compliant experiences
  • Present design concepts, rationale, and outcomes to product teams and stakeholders
  • Conduct design handoffs to engineering using tools such as Figma
  • Collaborate with other designers to align on shared patterns, systems, and standards

Strategy & Communication (20%)

  • Contribute to UX and product strategy across the assessment authoring ecosystem
  • Help evolve shared patterns and systems to support consistency across tools and platforms
  • Clearly document and communicate design decisions and tradeoffs
  • Actively participate in agile ceremonies, advocating for user needs and design quality
  • Champion a culture of user empathy, curiosity, and continuous learning
  • Advocate for effective, lightweight design processes that work in an embedded model

Project Management (10%)

  • Independently manage priorities and scope across multiple initiatives
  • Partner closely with product managers and engineers to ensure timely delivery
  • Foster strong collaboration across disciplines to align outcomes with product goals and College Board’s mission

About You

  • You thrive in close partnership with engineers and product managers
  • You bring a strong point of view while remaining open to feedback and iteration
  • You have a portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX ownership and systems thinking
