Duties and Accountabilities - Query, manipulate, and explore large Business Intelligence (Bl) datasets using data modelling concepts.
- Work alongside Business Analysts to investigate and define BI problems, as well as identify datapoints to illustrate insight-driven analyses across the firm through the use of effective data storytelling.
- Handle the preparation of value-added ad-hoc analyses and related commentary, as well as support ad-hoc analysis team to troubleshoot issues and improve analysis outputs.
- Improve BI and analysis tools to better respond to the firm's analytics needs.
- Own a broad portfolio of deliverables across multiple projects that support a wide range of technical requirements.
- Act as a key point of contact within team to support the delivery of value-added reports, dashboards, and analysis.
- Translate complex and nuanced messages into intuitive and simple-to-understand analyses, as well as oral and written commentary.
- Analyze the firm's business model and organization to become a trusted analyst for reporting and BI issues.
- Learn key data structures and data definitions that are available to deliver critical BI analysis.
- Identify and document data pain-points and communicate them effectively within BI group qualifications.
- Develop and enforce data consolidation and validation procedures, conducting in-depth diagnostics to identify and resolve data inconsistencies, ensuring high data integrity and accuracy.
- Design and implement SQL scripts for ETL processes, optimizing data preparation for machine learning models and streamlining data pipeline workflows.
- Conduct exploratory analysis using Power BI on client portfolios, establishing baseline characteristics for major clients and delivering actionable insights that informed business development strategies.
- Integrate external data sources, including S&P and Pitchbook, to enhance client analysis, enriching insights and providing a comprehensive understanding of market trends and dynamics.
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops to communicate quantitative and qualitative findings, fostering collaboration and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Design profitability waterfall model and develop dynamic dashboards tailored to stakeholders' needs, enabling near real-time monitoring of performance metrics, performance comparison and identification of key factors impacting profitability.
- Develop new performance metrics and score standards to evaluate client and project profitability, enabling leadership to identify strengths, pinpoint areas for improvements, and make informed strategic decisions.
- Provide meaningful, specific verbal real-time feedback to juniors and seniors at the end of each client matter.
- Effectively delegate and manage tasks of junior associates and provide real-time feedback on progress of matter in line with deadlines.
- Lead communications with clients and opposing counsel on substantive legal issues in the course of international arbitrations.
- Communicate with international arbitrators and arbitral institutions regarding ongoing disputes and procedural matters.
- Salary: $139,506 - $143,000 per year.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Information Science, Applied Analytics, or a related field plus 4 years of professional experience as a Business Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, or any occupation/position/title performing business administration, data modeling concepts, and data analysis.
- Must also have experience with the following special skills: 4 years of professional experience querying, manipulating, and exploring large datasets using database technologies (including MySQL), applying data modeling concepts (including star schema and snowflake schema), and developing ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) processes to support efficient data handling and analysis; 4 years of professional experience building effective stories with data, designing and enforcing data validation processes, and ensuring data integrity and accuracy for decision-making; 4 years of professional experience facilitating stakeholder workshops, aligning analytical findings with business objectives, and effectively communicating data-driven strategies; 2 years of professional experience utilizing Power BI to design interactive dashboards and visual reports, prototype data products, and develop performance metrics and profitability models, including waterfall structures and scoring frameworks, to support analysis and evaluation; 2 years of professional experience utilizing programming languages including R for data analysis and automation, developing strategic insights that help leadership identify strengths, pinpoint areas for improvement, and make informed business decisions; and 2 years of professional experience conducting exploratory analysis using Power BI, integrating external data sources (including S&P and Pitchbook) to enhance analysis, and provide deeper insights into market trends and business growth opportunities.
