Job DescriptionJob Summary: We are looking for a seasoned Data Analytics Developer with deep expertise in business intelligence (especially Tableau), database design/optimization, and automation of data workflows. The ideal candidate is an exceptional SQL/Python programmer who can build automated ETL pipelines, craft compelling data visualizations, and translate complex business requirements into effective technical solutions. This role requires a balance of strong technical skills and excellent communication - you will work closely with stakeholders to deliver insights and tell stories through data in visually engaging ways.
Key Responsibilities: Design and Automate Data Pipelines: Develop, optimize, and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources, ensuring data integrity and efficiency. Leverage Python and ETL tools to automate repetitive workflows and improve process reliability.
Database Architecture: Design and optimize database structures and data models for analytics. Implement best practices in schema design, indexing, and query performance to support fast, scalable data retrieval and analysis.
Business Intelligence & Visualization: Create interactive dashboards and reports in Tableau (and other BI tools) that are not only aesthetically polished but also highly usable. Tell a story with data by selecting the right visuals and giving context, enabling stakeholders to grasp insights and trends at a glance. Ensure dashboards follow best practices for design and user experience.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business units and branch operations teams to gather requirements and translate business questions into technical specifications. Act as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring solutions meet real-world needs.
Insight Delivery: Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities. Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear, concise manner - whether through dashboards, visual presentations, or written reports - to support data-driven decision-making.
Technical Leadership: Ensure development best practices in code (Python, SQL, etc.) and tool usage. Contribute to data governance by documenting processes and ensuring compliance with company data standards. Provide guidance or mentorship to junior developers as needed.
Customer-Focused Solutions: Proactively engage with internal customers to refine requirements and iterate on solutions. Provide exceptional support and training to end-users of dashboards or data tools, improving adoption and maximizing the value derived from analytics products.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Five to seven years of statistical and/or data analytics experience
Preferred Skills/Experience Business Intelligence Expertise: Proven experience developing BI solutions, particularly with Tableau (creating complex dashboards, managing Tableau Server or similar BI platforms). Able to design visuals that communicate insights effectively.
Database & ETL Skills: Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database design. Experience in building and optimizing database schemas, writing efficient queries, and maintaining data warehouses or data marts.
Programming: Proficiency in Python for data processing and automation (pandas, scripting, API integration, etc.). Familiarity with other programming or scripting (e.g., SQL, R, or shell scripting) is a plus.
Analytical Thinking: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Comfortable working with complex data sets to derive meaningful insights.
Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to translate technical information for non-technical audiences and to gather business requirements from stakeholders. Comfortable presenting insights and training users on analytics tools or dashboards.
Collaboration: Experience working in cross-functional teams and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Advanced BI & Visualization: Advanced expertise in Tableau (or similar, like Power BI), including ability to implement storytelling features, custom visuals, and performance-tuned dashboards.
Data Ecosystem Knowledge: Experience with big data technologies or cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure/AWS data services, Hadoop, Spark) and integrating them with BI tools. Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and tools.
Additional Programming/Tools: Knowledge of other relevant tools or languages such as R, Java, or ETL software (e.g., Alteryx, Informatica). Ability to create APIs or use them for data integration.
Project Leadership: Demonstrated project management skills or tech lead experience - ability to scope, plan, and drive projects to completion.
Business Acumen: Understanding of branch operations or retail banking processes (since the role supports Branch Operations) can be beneficial. Able to align technical solutions with business objectives and identify opportunities where analytics can add value.
Certifications: Certifications in Tableau (Desktop or Server), data engineering, or related areas are advantageous.
Location expectations This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $98,175.00 - $115,500.00
