Summary

Job Description Summary
The Fleet Performance Engineer for GE Vernova is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting the technical performance of the installed fleet to identify abnormal behavior, degradation, recurring issues, and emerging reliability risks.
This role combines strong engineering knowledge with data-driven analysis.
The Fleet Performance Engineer will work with operational data, alarms, events, configurations, maintenance history, and field information to understand how products behave under real operating conditions and translate those observations into actionable engineering insights.
The engineer will work closely with Fleet Reliability & Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Controls Engineering, Data Analytics, AI, Field Service, Product Engineering, Quality, and R&D teams.
A key objective of the role is to move the organization from reactive issue investigation toward proactive and predictive fleet management.

Job Description

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor fleet performance, availability, reliability, and energy-production KPIs across solar and energy-storage assets.
  • Analyze operational data, alarms, events, and maintenance history to identify performance deviations, recurring issues, and emerging risks.
  • Develop and maintain standardized dashboards, reports, and analytical views that provide clear fleet and asset-level visibility.
  • Investigate underperformance and quantify its technical, operational, and customer impact.
  • Benchmark assets, sites, configurations, and operating conditions to identify performance gaps and best practices.
  • Partner with Reliability and RCA teams to define affected populations, support investigations, and validate corrective-action effectiveness.
  • Develop early-warning indicators and analytical methods that support condition-based and predictive maintenance.
  • Translate analytical findings into prioritized recommendations for operations, maintenance, engineering, controls, software, and product teams.
  • Define data and contextualization requirements with Data Engineering and Analytics/AI teams, including asset hierarchy and phase-module traceability.
  • Identify data-quality, completeness, and consistency issues and support sustainable corrective actions.
  • Communicate fleet insights, risks, and recommended actions clearly to technical teams, customers, and business leaders.
  • Maintain analytical methods, assumptions, and documentation while promoting data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Controls Engineering, Energy Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Engineering experience with power conversion, renewable energy, energy storage, industrial controls, electrical systems, or similar complex technical products.
  • Experience analyzing operational or field data to solve technical problems.
  • Ability to interpret alarms, events, trends, electrical measurements, and system operating conditions.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly to both engineering and leadership audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple engineering disciplines and global teams.
  • Professional proficiency in English.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in Field Service, Commissioning, Product Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or technical troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of inverter and power-conversion architecture.
  • Understanding of plant controls, SCADA, PLCs, historians, alarms, and event logging.
  • Experience working with large operational datasets.
  • Working knowledge of tools such as Python, SQL, Power BI, MATLAB, or equivalent analytical platforms.
  • Experience with time-series data analysis.
  • Able to understand reliability concepts such as failure rate, MTBF, population analysis, and failure-mode classification.
  • Experience supporting Root Cause Analysis.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and anomaly detection.
  • Ability to understand interactions between hardware, software, controls, environmental conditions, and system operation.
  • Strong curiosity and ability to identify patterns across apparently unrelated technical events.
