Our challenge
We are seeking a highly experienced Java Developer with extensive Azure cloud expertise to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building large-scale, distributed software applications utilizing event-driven microservices architecture. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust microservices and RESTful APIs, leveraging cutting-edge cloud native Azure services.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Weehawken, NJ is $120k - $135k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Architect, develop, and deploy large-scale, distributed applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Azure native services.
- Design, implement, and optimize event-driven microservices using Azure Functions, Azure Event Grid, Confluent Kafka, and other Azure-native cloud services.
- Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and event-driven microservices to support scalable, reliable systems.
- Containerize applications using Docker and orchestrate deployments with Kubernetes.
- Utilize Azure services such as Azure Functions, API Management (APIM), Data Grid, and other cloud-native tools for application development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Azure SQL.
- Write efficient, maintainable code with strong debugging and performance optimization skills.
- Perform unit and integration testing to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Use Ansible Playbooks for streamlined deployment processes.
- Work with front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, React, Redux, and modern CSS preprocessors (CSS3, SASS, LESS).
- Apply knowledge of distributed computing, low-latency, multi-threaded solutions, and batch processing systems.
- Implement DevOps practices to automate deployment, testing, and monitoring.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on large-scale applications.
- Extensive experience building distributed, event-driven microservices architectures.
- Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and Azure cloud native development.
- Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Deep understanding of Azure services such as Azure Functions, APIM, Data Grid, Confluent Kafka.
- Solid background in relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Azure SQL).
- Proven debugging, performance tuning, and optimization skills.
- Experience with web technologies: HTML, CSS, REST, XML, JSON.
- Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks such as React and Redux.
- Knowledge of advanced CSS techniques (CSS3, SASS, LESS).
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, low-latency solutions, and multi-threaded programming.
- Experience with microservices development, database design, and batch systems.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices.
Preferred, but not required:
- Certifications in Java, Azure, or DevOps.
- Experience with message queues and event streaming platforms.
- Exposure to web security best practices.
