Summary

OneSource Professional Search is partnering with a privately held, established petroleum refining company to hire a Senior Process Engineer for its refinery operation in Alabama. This is a senior-level technical role for an experienced refinery engineer who can serve as a go-to resource for Operations and Engineering, providing hands-on process support, troubleshooting, project development, and technical leadership across the facility.

Responsibilities
  • Provide senior-level process engineering support for refinery operations, troubleshooting, reliability, safety, and optimization.
  • Monitor unit performance and identify operational or technical issues requiring engineering support.
  • Partner closely with Operations and other engineering disciplines to troubleshoot process and equipment problems in the field.
  • Provide technical review of designs, Management of Change (MOC) documentation, and change orders.
  • Identify and develop refinery improvements focused on safety, reliability, profitability, and environmental compliance.
  • Scope and develop process designs for capital and operational improvement projects.
  • Support commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of major unit or system modifications.
  • Identify opportunities to improve refinery processes, procedures, costs, and overall profitability.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering, operations, and other refinery personnel.
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM) and other long-term technical programs.
  • Serve as a senior technical advisor to refinery leadership and other departments.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 8+ years of refinery or petrochemical experience with demonstrated knowledge of refinery processes.
  • Experience with refinery planning and/or process equipment design.
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting and process optimization experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities that improve profitability, reliability, or reduce operating costs.
  • Working knowledge of process simulation, design, or other refinery engineering software.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with Operations, maintenance, engineering, and management.
  • Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver's license.
