Role Overview


Due to ongoing growth and strategic initiatives, our client is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and support of their enterprise network infrastructure. This pivotal role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic oversight, ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of critical network and IT systems across multiple sites. It's an exceptional opportunity for a skilled professional to influence infrastructure development and play a key role in supporting the company's ambitious operational goals.


Key Responsibilities



  • Design, develop, and implement robust network solutions to support the organisation's operational needs across multiple locations.

  • Configure and manage networking hardware including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points, with a focus on security and performance.

  • Monitor network health, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and optimise system performance.

  • Maintain and strengthen cybersecurity measures, including firewall policies, access controls, and vulnerability management.

  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure high system availability and connectivity.

  • Manage and support on-premises server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and virtualisation platforms.

  • Support SQL Server environments with a focus on performance optimisation and data security.

  • Document all network configurations, procedures, and infrastructure assets, ensuring clarity for future planning and audits.

  • Contribute to disaster recovery planning and testing to ensure business continuity.

  • Act as a technical mentor within the IT team, guiding junior staff and supporting cross-functional projects.



Essential Skills & Experience



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in enterprise network and infrastructure engineering roles.

  • Proven expertise in network design, configuration, and management, particularly with Cisco, Fortinet, or similar brands.

  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network security principles.

  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server and Active Directory administration.

  • Practical experience managing SQL Server environments.

  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.

  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication abilities, capable of working collaboratively in a team environment.



Desirable Skills & Experience



  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Security+, or MCSE.

  • Experience with network monitoring tools like SolarWinds or PRTG.

  • Exposure to disaster recovery, backup strategies, and data protection solutions.

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and compliance standards.
