Job Description

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Networking organization, specializing in DDoS and Network Security. In this role, you will help design, build, and improve solutions to enhance the security and reliability of OCI's global cloud services. The ideal candidate is an experienced engineer with a strong background in developing robust, distributed software systems and a keen interest in cloud networking and security.

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and improvement of distributed systems for OCI's networking services, with a focus on security and resiliency.
  • Develop and enhance L4/L7 protection services-including DDoS mitigation and Web Application Firewall (WAF)-to defend against network and application-layer threats.
  • Analyze industry trends in network architecture and security threats to help guide ongoing system enhancements.
  • Participate in initiatives for improving system scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with product, operations, and engineering teams to deliver secure and reliable solutions.
  • Produce high-quality code and participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation.
  • Share technical best practices and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Support a culture of quality, innovation, and continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Substantial experience (typically 5+ years) building and operating distributed systems or cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Understanding of networking technologies and/or security principles, with a strong interest in professional growth in these areas.
  • Proficient programming skills in one or more major languages (such as Go, Java, C++, Python) in a systems engineering context.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills; able to work within cross-functional teams.
  • Experience producing technical documentation and participating in code/design reviews.

Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience developing security, networking, or cloud-based solutions.
  • Familiarity with automation, monitoring, and operational support for highly available services.
  • Experience with open source tools or community contributions.
  • Exposure to best practices in large-scale software design and deployment

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $79,200 to $178,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
