Data Protection Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Systems Engineer with deep expertise in enterprise server, storage, and data protection technologies across hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud). This role will focus on architecting, deploying, and supporting scalable infrastructure solutions while ensuring high availability, performance, and security of critical systems.

The ideal candidate will serve as a key technical contributor responsible for operational support, system optimization, automation, and continuous improvement of enterprise infrastructure supporting mission-critical applications and services.

 Position Responsibilities

·  Design, architect, deploy, and maintain enterprise storage and data protection solutions across on-premises and cloud environments

·  Provide daily administration and operational support for storage, backup, and cloud platforms

·   Manage storage systems including provisioning, expansion, troubleshooting, and SAN zoning

·      Perform backup and recovery operations across enterprise systems (e.g., messaging, file systems, and databases)

·  Monitor system performance, capacity, and usage trends; recommend and implement improvements

·  Support hybrid cloud environments, ensuring performance, scalability, and cost optimization

·        Collaborate with engineering, security, and operations teams to ensure systems are secure, stable, and highly available

·        Develop and maintain automation solutions using scripting and process improvements

·  Create and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base articles

·   Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex infrastructure issues.

Position Qualifications

·  Minimum 10 years of overall IT experience, with at least 6 years focused on storage and data protection technologies

·   Hands-on experience with enterprise storage and backup platforms (e.g., Commvault, Pure Storage, NetApp, or similar)

·   Hands-on experience with Commvault Hyperscale, Commvault Command Center, and Metallic Cloud Storage Service.

·  Expertise with storage platforms such as PURE FlashArray/FlashBlade, NetApp, and Cisco SAN.

·   Experience supporting hybrid environments including both on-premises infrastructure and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS)

·  Strong knowledge of SAN, NAS, and enterprise storage architectures

·   Experience with backup and recovery solutions for enterprise applications and databases

·   Ability to independently manage infrastructure projects and deployments

· Strong understanding of system performance monitoring, capacity planning, and optimization

·   Knowledge of Kubernetes, OpenShift, or container backup solutions (Portworx, Kasten) preferred.

·  Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

·      Experience with automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Ansible)

·     Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter)

·     Understanding of cloud storage and compute services

·    Knowledge of SAN fabric technologies (Cisco preferred)
