Senior or Staff Software Engineer

Location: Wilmington, MA

Analog Devices' rapid research and development group is seeking a Staff Software Engineer with a strong background in full-stack development and hardware-software integration. This role is ideal for a self-motivated engineer who thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys solving complex, ambiguous problems.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain software for biomedical and volatile organic components (VOC) detection and diagnostic systems
  • Build user interfaces, APIs, and data pipelines for detection and analysis platforms
  • Implement and optimize software for real-time control and data acquisition
  • Translate customer and internal requirements into software specifications and designs
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and tools
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, biomedical engineers, and lab personnel

Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of full-time software engineering experience, with 5+ years Python Development
  • Proven experience building and maintaining complex web applications
  • Proficiency in Python and related technologies (Poetry, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy)
  • Experience developing large-scale React applications using TypeScript
  • Strong understanding of UI/UX design trade-offs and technical feasibility
  • Extensive experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, or MongoDB, including schema migrations and ORM/ODM debugging
  • Experience building and scaling cloud applications on AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure
  • Experience integrating and working with message brokers such as RabbitMQ

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to develop cross-platform solutions
  • General understanding of hardware-software integration
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes orchestration using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools
  • Strong grasp of system design and software architecture
  • Familiarity with C, C++, or C# is a plus

About the Team

This role is part of a fast-moving R&D group focused on developing innovative solutions in biomedical and detection technologies. You'll work alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers and researchers, contributing to impactful projects that bridge software and hardware.

The expected wage range for a new hire into this position is $134,644 to $201,966.
