SQL DBA with Active Public Trust

Position: SQL Database Administrator (DBA)

Location: Springfield, VA ( Remote but must be ready to come to office if required)

We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in data warehousing, SQL Server operations, and compliance-driven environments. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to architect large-scale data solutions, maintain secure and resilient database environments, and streamline reporting and operational workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain enterprise-level data warehouses, including the DIAR2 backend, utilizing Kimball Star-Schema, Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCDs), and ETL scripting in T-SQL and Python.
• Manage end-to-end SQL Server Operations & Maintenance (O&M) for the client’s Information Assurance Compliance System (IACS), ensuring 99.9% system uptime for mission-critical applications.
• Improve FISMA compliance posture by leading patch management, Nessus vulnerability remediation, and DISA STIG compliance across IACS virtual machines and applications—resulting in a 15% score improvement.
• Engineer and optimize ETL pipelines to support more than 150GB of daily data, reducing processing times by 50% through performance tuning and pipeline redesign.
• Deliver recurring executive-level reporting, including Program Health Assessment Reports and Monthly FISMA Scorecards, while reducing manual reporting processes by over 50% through automation.
• Serve as a key technical liaison to resolve critical data transfer, integration, and reporting issues across teams, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of mission-essential information.

 Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, ETL design, performance tuning, and data warehouse architecture.
• Experience with Kimball methodologies, star-schema design, and SCD implementation.
• Proficiency in Python for data processing and automation.
• Hands-on experience with DISA STIGs, Nessus scans, and federal compliance frameworks (FISMA/NIST).
• Proven ability to improve operational efficiency through automation and process optimization.
• Experience supporting enterprise or federal mission-critical systems.
