Database Administrator

Description

We are looking for a skilled Database Administrator to join our team in San Antonio Texas. In this role, you will oversee critical database functions and contribute to modernization initiatives, including cloud-based solutions and system upgrades. This is a contract position with the possibility of transitioning into a long-term role based on performance.

Responsibilities:

Manage Microsoft SQL Server databases to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Execute upgrades and migrations of Microsoft SQL Server from older versions to modern platforms such as SQL Server 2022/2025.

Optimize and maintain Azure SQL Database environments, including Database as a Service.

Support data migration activities related to Oracle Fusion implementation.

Develop and refine T-SQL scripts to enhance performance, reporting, and system integration.

Provide ongoing support for internally developed applications and ensure seamless data flow for downstream consumers.

Collaborate closely with teams focused on application development, business intelligence, and system integrations.

Communicate effectively across departments, demonstrating ownership and accountability in managing database systems.

Requirements

Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server database administration.
Strong proficiency in T-SQL scripting and query optimization.
Hands-on expertise in SQL Server upgrades and migration processes.
Familiarity with Azure SQL Database environments and cloud-based database solutions.
Proven ability to support internally developed applications and maintain system stability.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
Knowledge of regulated industries, such as healthcare, is a plus.
Experience with Oracle environments or migrations is preferred.
