Contract: W2 only, 12 month contract with potential for extension or conversion to full time with either the client or CEI
Pay: $75.00-80.00 /hour + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match
Overview
The client is seeking a Senior Java Developer responsible for enhancing and evolving Java-based systems with a focus on functional and reactive programming, cloud integration, and high performance. This role will help drive modernization efforts using Mono/Flux, Spring WebFlux, and AWS-native solutions while contributing to the development of scalable, cloud-native applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, cloud-native backend services using Java 17+, Spring Boot, and AWS.
- Build and maintain Reactive REST APIs using Spring WebFlux and Project Reactor (Mono/Flux).
- Champion the use of functional programming paradigms; reduce reliance on imperative constructs like traditional loops and conditionals.
- Integrate and optimize interactions with MongoDB, ensuring performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to modernize legacy systems into reactive, event-driven architectures.
- Promote best practices in CI/CD, code quality, and cloud security.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers.
- Stay current on trends in Java, Reactive programming, and cloud-native technologies.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of professional experience in Java development, including Java 17 or higher.
- Expert knowledge of Spring Framework, including Spring Boot and Spring WebFlux.
- Deep experience with Reactive frameworks, particularly Project Reactor (Mono/Flux).
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g., Lambda, S3, API Gateway, DynamoDB, etc.).
- Strong understanding of RESTful API development and integration.
- Proficient in working with MongoDB and reactive data access.
- Passionate advocate of functional programming principles.
- Familiarity with modern DevOps and version control tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Docker).
Required Education
- Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Master''s degree preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and event-driven systems.
- AWS Certification (Developer or Architect) is a plus.
- Prior experience in the media or entertainment industry is a bonus.
