Role Overview
The Test & Development Engineer is responsible for leading technical investigations, supporting engine testing and validation activities, implementing design changes, and providing immediate production and plant support. This role interfaces closely with cross‑functional teams including quality, sourcing, manufacturing, and program management to drive issue resolution, cost reduction, and product robustness from concept through production.
Key Responsibilities
· Failure Investigation & Corrective Action Leadership
Lead Failure Incident Review Group (FIRG) projects arising from customer‑returned or test engines. Own investigations from initial issue identification through root cause determination and implementation of short‑term containment and long‑term corrective actions.
· Cost Reduction & Sourcing Change Management
Lead cost reduction and sourcing change initiatives by developing and maintaining project schedules, coordinating with quality, sourcing, and other cross‑functional teams, incorporating requested changes, and ensuring successful implementation into production.
· Current Product & Plant Support
Provide immediate support for production plants, including disposition of non‑conforming or non‑specification parts and rapid response to issues impacting line continuity and build schedules.
· Engine Testing & Validation Support
Support engine development and validation testing by procuring parts, incorporating design changes, developing test plans, executing tests, and reviewing and documenting test results.
· Design Change Implementation
Execute design tasks by incorporating requested or required engineering changes through marked‑up drawings, participating in design reviews, and ensuring changes are properly released and implemented.
· Program & Stakeholder Communication
Participate in and lead weekly meetings with project, program, and functional stakeholders to review progress, risks, and action items across investigations, testing, and implementation activities.
· Validation Planning & Scheduling
Develop and manage validation plans and testing schedules to ensure timely completion of development, verification, and production readiness milestones.
