Position: Sr. L4 Network Engineer/Architect
Contract: 12 Months
Work location : Los Angelese, CA (Candidates must be in the Los Angeles area and able to work onsite in downtown LA as needed. Will also travel to client sites in the LA region as needed)
Note : The ideal candidate is a senior network engineer who can lead the Cisco SD-WAN design conversation while still having enough WAN, MPLS, fiber, and LAN integration knowledge to ensure the solution works end to end.
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced **Senior L4 Network Engineer / Cisco SD-WAN Architect** with expertise in **Cisco SD-WAN, Enterprise WAN, MPLS, Routing, and WAN/LAN integration**. The ideal candidate will lead the design, deployment, and support of Cisco SD-WAN solutions across MPLS, Internet, Broadband, LTE/5G, and hybrid WAN environments while ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
Key Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and support **Cisco SD-WAN** solutions using **vManage, vSmart, vBond, and Cisco WAN Edge** platforms.
Define SD-WAN overlay architecture, routing, segmentation, application-aware routing, traffic steering, QoS, failover, and resiliency.
Lead SD-WAN migrations from traditional MPLS to hybrid WAN environments.
Design and troubleshoot enterprise WAN environments using **MPLS, Internet, Carrier Ethernet, Broadband, and Private Fiber**.
Configure and support **BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, EIGRP, VRFs, route redistribution, QoS, and routing policies**.
Integrate WAN edge devices with LAN, firewalls, data centers, cloud, and security platforms.
Understand carrier handoffs, fiber connectivity, optics, WAN circuit delivery, demarcation points, and physical Layer 1/2 troubleshooting.
Support high-risk cutovers, migrations, incident resolution, and root cause analysis.
Produce HLDs, LLDs, network diagrams, implementation plans, and operational documentation.
Provide technical leadership, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate with carriers, vendors, and stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience
10+ years of enterprise or service provider network engineering experience.
Strong hands-on experience with **Cisco SD-WAN architecture, deployment, and troubleshooting**.
Expertise with **Cisco Catalyst 8000/8500, ISR, ASR, IOS-XE SD-WAN** platforms.
Strong routing knowledge including **BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, EIGRP, MPLS L3VPN/L2VPN, VRFs, QoS, and Policy-Based Routing.
Experience designing SD-WAN over **MPLS, Internet, Broadband, LTE/5G, and hybrid WAN**.
Strong understanding of WAN circuit delivery, fiber handoffs, optics, routers, switches, firewalls, and LAN integration.
Experience with SD-WAN migrations, WAN transformations, circuit turn-ups, and production support.
Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure/Service Provider, CCNP Enterprise, or equivalent.
Experience with **ThousandEyes, SolarWinds, LogicMonitor, NetFlow**, or similar monitoring tools.
Knowledge of **Ansible, Python, REST APIs, Git**, and network automation.
Experience integrating SD-WAN with cloud, SASE, data centers, and enterprise security environments.
Experience with DWDM, Carrier Ethernet, dark fiber, and optical transport technologies.
