Job Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced and seasoned, visionary AWS Software Solutions Architect to design and deliver secure, scalable, and resilient cloud and hybrid solutions.
This role combines deep hands-on technical expertise with architectural leadership-driving solution design, guiding engineering teams, and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
This is a highly consultative, client-facing role: you will lead discovery workshops with customers, advise stakeholders, and create pragmatic architecture recommendations that balance value, risk, delivery timelines, and total cost of ownership.
Key Responsibilities:
Own end-to-end solution architecture for cloud and hybrid initiatives, translating business requirements into secure, scalable AWS designs.
Lead architecture workshops and collaborate effectively with diverse teams (engineering, product, security, data, operations, and vendors) to drive alignment and delivery.
Facilitate stakeholder discovery (current-state assessments, constraints, NFRs, and pain points) and translate findings into target-state architecture, options, and trade-off recommendations.
Serve as a customer-facing technical lead, building trust with client stakeholders, managing expectations, and guiding decisions through clear options and documented trade-offs.
Develop architecture deliverables such as solution blueprints, integration approach papers, reference designs, and migration roadmaps, present recommendations to technical and executive audiences.
Support delivery planning by contributing to scope definition, high-level estimates, implementation sequencing, and risk/assumption tracking; partner with teams to ensure architectures are actionable and buildable.
Partner with account and delivery leadership to support pre-sales activities, including solutioning, effort estimates, and statements of work (SOW), ensuring a clear scope-to-architecture-to-delivery path.
Act as a trusted advisor, coaching teams on cloud best practices and establishing architecture governance (principles, patterns, guardrails, and decision records) across multiple workstreams.
Architect event-driven integrations using Kafka (including topics, schemas, consumer groups, and delivery semantics) and streaming/messaging patterns to support high-throughput systems.
Architect complex integrations across legacy and modern APIs (REST, GraphQL, SOAP), including API lifecycle management, versioning, governance, and performance/reliability best practices.
Architect and lead modernization and migration initiatives defining target-state architecture, transition patterns, and phased delivery roadmaps.
Define integration patterns for on-premises and cloud-based databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, DynamoDB, Aurora/RDS), including replication, migration, performance, and resiliency considerations.
Partner with application, data, and platform teams to standardize DevSecOps practices (CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automated testing, and release governance).
Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements (security, compliance, performance, availability, cost optimization) and conduct architecture reviews and risk assessments.
Establish observability standards (logging, metrics, tracing) and operational readiness practices, including SLOs/SLAs and incident response runbooks.
Contribute to strategic planning and roadmap development, supporting estimation, prioritization, and technical decision-making.
Required Skills:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
12+ years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture for enterprise systems.
7+ years of hands-on experience building Java and Spring Boot micro services, including designing APIs and integrations in enterprise environments.
Proven experience successfully working with diverse, cross-functional teams to architect and deliver complex integrations across legacy systems and modern APIs.
Strong integration background across REST/GraphQL/SOAP APIs, API gateways, authentication/authorization patterns (OAuth2/OIDC), and contract-driven development.
Strong experience designing and integrating event-driven systems using Kafka, including producer/consumer patterns, schema management, and reliability/performance tuning.
Strong experience integrating with on-premises and cloud-based databases, including data modeling, migration/replication strategies, and performance/resiliency design.
Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS) as part of modern cloud solution design.
Strong understanding of network and application security, including IAM, encryption, secrets management, least privilege, and threat modeling.
Experience designing highly available, fault-tolerant systems, including DR strategies, multi-region considerations, and capacity planning.
Demonstrated client consulting and advisory experience, including leading customer workshops, stakeholder interviews, requirements-to-architecture translation, and executive-ready communication.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decisions and explain architecture to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Experience:
AWS Certification (Solutions Architect - Professional) or equivalent cloud architecture certification.
Client-facing consulting experience delivering architecture assessments, cloud strategies, and target-state designs-producing polished customer deliverables and presenting to both technical leaders and executives.
Experience supporting pre-sales and delivery initiation, including solutioning for RFP/RFI responses, scoping, statements of work (SOW), assumptions/risks, and high-level estimates.
Background in a consulting firm, systems integrator, or cloud partner environment, delivering across multiple client engagements and balancing competing priorities.
Experience with hybrid connectivity patterns (VPN/Direct Connect), identity integration, and enterprise integration platforms.
Experience implementing API governance and standards (e.g., OpenAPI, versioning strategies, developer portals) across multiple teams.
Experience with data streaming ecosystems (Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, stream processing) and production operations at scale.
