Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with strong Linux, automation, and scripting expertise to support secure, enterprise-scale systems in a high-performance and multi-level secure environment. This role focuses on building, deploying, automating, and maintaining Linux-based systems using modern DevOps practices while collaborating closely with engineering teams, system administrators, and end users.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SE Linux configurations using automation tools
- Design, develop, and manage DevOps deployment automation processes
- Automate system configuration, patching, and deployment using Ansible and shell scripting
- Troubleshoot automation, deployment, and configuration issues in collaboration with site administrators
- Install and maintain software libraries supporting enterprise deployments in Linux environments
- Monitor and enhance DevOps pipelines in an agile, fast-paced environment
- Collaborate with third-party vendors to convert manual deployment steps into automated processes
- Apply DevOps engineering best practices to deliver high-quality, reliable solutions
- Provide technical support to staff and end users to resolve deployment and system issues
- Modify existing DevOps scripts and automation to correct errors and improve performance
- Develop and execute test plans for system upgrades and deployments
- Support filesystem upgrades and coordinate with vendors to resolve issues during testing
- Contribute to documentation, scripting standards, and operational processes
- Participate in shaping and supporting future deployments and new initiatives
- Travel as required (initial short-term travel, followed by minimal ongoing travel)
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of combined experience in Linux administration, scripting/software development, and configuration management
- Proficiency in Python, Perl, Korn, Bourne/Bash, Ansible, and other shell scripting languages
- Experience with revision control systems such as CVS, SVN, Git, GitLab, and GitLab CI
- Hands-on experience managing and developing DevOps deployment automation processes
- Strong ability to analyze, debug, and maintain existing DevOps and automation frameworks
- Understanding of the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, coding, documentation, and testing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Security+ certification required
- Active TS/SCI with Poly security clearance required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience configuring and managing SE Linux, including policies and enforcement
- Experience with Red Hat Satellite
- Experience with file systems such as Lustre, NFS, or similar technologies
- Knowledge of Ethernet networking concepts
- Experience with RDMA communications (InfiniBand, Omni-Path)
- Experience with high-speed fabrics including subnet management, IPoIB/IPoOPA, and fabric health monitoring
- Understanding of identity management systems including LDAP and token-based authentication
- Experience supporting or contributing to new system deployments and expansion initiatives
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in secure environments
