Role Overview
The Global Salesforce Commercial Platforms IT team is a globally distributed organization delivering scalable Salesforce solutions across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC. We are seeking a Principal Salesforce Technical Architect to serve as the strategic technology leader for the enterprise Salesforce platform and emerging AI capabilities.
This role combines deep hands-on Salesforce expertise with enterprise architecture leadership and business consulting. You will partner with Commercial and IT leadership to define scalable target architectures, guide development teams, and drive the adoption of next-generation Salesforce technologies (Health Cloud, Experience Cloud, Agentforce, Data Cloud, and AI automation) across business units, including Neuromodulation and Pelvic Health.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Technology Leadership
Serve as the Principal Salesforce Technical Architect for the enterprise Salesforce platform.
Define, implement, and govern Salesforce architecture, standards, reusable design patterns, and best practices.
Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, solution architects, and delivery teams to translate business strategy into scalable technology solutions.
Lead architecture governance, portfolio lifecycle decisions (adopt, enhance, modernize, retire capabilities), and technical roadmap planning to minimize technical debt.
Define, document, and communicate end-to-end solution architectures covering business processes, data, integrations, security, automation, and AI capabilities.
Evaluate emerging Salesforce technologies and recommend adoption strategies aligned with enterprise goals.
Business Consulting & Solution Architecture
Lead discovery sessions and business workshops to understand capabilities, pain points, and strategic objectives.
Translate business requirements into scalable solution architectures, implementation roadmaps, and technical design workshops.
Prepare architecture diagrams, technical specifications, integration designs, and solution documentation.
Estimate level of effort, evaluate technical feasibility, identify implementation risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.
Serve as a trusted advisor for Salesforce platform capabilities and enterprise solution decisions.
A Day in the Life
Core Architecture & Engineering:
Designing and implementing scalable solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flows, Platform Events, and APIs.
Architecting secure Experience Cloud solutions (portals for customers, partners, and employees) covering SSO, SAML, OAuth, JIT provisioning, CMS integration, guest user security, and data sharing models.
Building front-end applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, JSON, REST APIs, custom theming, and modern UI frameworks.
Building AI-powered solutions using Agentforce, Prompt Builder, Data Cloud, and AI-driven insights.
Integration & Reliability:
Leading enterprise integrations using REST, SOAP, Platform Events, WebMethods, middleware, and external APIs (e.g., AEM, identity providers).
Troubleshooting complex production issues, conducting root cause analysis, and performing code reviews to enforce quality standards.
Delivery & Governance:
Leading technical delivery across Neuromodulation and Pelvic Health through implementation, SIT, UAT, deployment, and production stabilization.
Removing technical roadblocks for Agile delivery teams and proactively mitigating project risks.
Collaborating with globally distributed teams (Americas, EMEA, APAC) and mentoring admins, developers, and technical leads.
Required Knowledge & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: 12+ years of overall IT experience with 10+ years of hands-on Salesforce development and architecture experience.
Technical Expertise:
Proven experience leading enterprise Salesforce implementations from architecture through delivery.
Strong knowledge of Salesforce data models, security architecture, scalability, and performance optimization.
Hands-on experience integrating Salesforce with enterprise applications via REST, SOAP, Platform Events, WebMethods, and middleware.
Proficiency with Git/Bitbucket, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and deployment tools such as Copado.
Methodology & Soft Skills:
Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills.
Proven ability to collaborate with globally distributed cross-functional teams.
Nice to Haves
Certifications: Salesforce Certified Application/System Architect, Experience Cloud Consultant, Sales/Service Cloud Consultant, or Health Cloud Accredited Professional.
Scale & Domain: Experience architecting enterprise-scale Experience Cloud solutions supporting thousands of external users (customer, partner, patient engagement portals).
Industry Background: Experience in healthcare or regulated industries with strict compliance and secure external access requirements.
Business Programs: Experience with Sales Enablement or large-scale CRM transformation programs within global enterprise environments.
