The Software Engineer will advance the capabilities of the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO) by providing software design, development, and maintenance. The position includes full lifecycle support from research and development to operational deployment of AI focused technologies. These technologies include Large Language Models (LLMs), Model Context Protocol Servers with custom tools, AI Agents, and RAG based solutions for knowledge management. NAVOCEANO is located at NASA's Stennis Space Center and the work would be performed in NAVOCEANO's facilities.
Required Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or any other relevant technical field
The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with:
o Programming languages such as Java and Python
o Data structures
o Artificial Intelligence
o Algorithms
o Unit Testing
Self-motivated yet able to work well within a development team
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong additional consideration for experience with:
RAG solutions and vector databases
AI/ML model training
Container paradigms such as Podman, Docker, and Kubernetes.
