About the Position

Our established law firm in Wallingford, Connecticut is seeking an experienced Probate & Estate Planning Paralegal to join our team. This is an in-person position requiring direct client interaction and the ability to independently manage probate and estate administration matters from start to finish.

The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience handling Connecticut probate matters, including taxable estates and related court filings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with probate administration and estate planning matters.

  • Manage full estate administrations from opening through closing.

  • Prepare probate court filings, petitions, inventories, accountings, and related documents.

  • Prepare Connecticut tax-related probate filings, including CT-706 NT forms and supporting documentation.

  • Assist with affidavits, conservatorships (when applicable), and other probate proceedings.

  • Draft estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance healthcare directives.

  • Communicate directly with clients, beneficiaries, fiduciaries, financial institutions, and probate courts.

  • Maintain case files, monitor deadlines, and ensure timely filings.

  • Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of probate and estate planning paralegal experience preferred.

  • Experience handling full estate administrations, tax-related estates, and affidavits is required.

  • Knowledge of wills, trusts, and related estate planning documents.

  • Familiarity with Connecticut Probate Court procedures and forms.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document management systems.
