Scala Developer - NYC, NY - Local Only - Contract

Position: Scala Developer
Location: NYC, NY
Duration: 12+ Months

In-person Interview Required

Skills Required 
•  Technical skills: 
o  Solid RDBMS and SQL knowledge
o  Strong database related hands-on development experience especially in DB2
o  Experience with Java EE (Spring, Gradle)
o  Exposure to Scala
o  Familiarity with ETL
o  Familiarity with Linux and Windows development environments
•   Willing to upskill and contribute in software modernization journey to latest tech stacks
•  Working familiarity with BDD and TDD approaches in software lifecycles
•  Working familiarity using GenAI-powered IDEs, such as VS Code and Co-Pilot
•   A generalist with demonstrated abilities in specific areas and a strong ability to deliver reliably
• Self-motivated individual and creative thinker who will take ownership of tasks and projects, able to work with the global team, and manage time and tasks effectively and independently.
•  Strong written and verbal communication skills
•  Experience with object-oriented software development
•  Experience with modern SDLC methodologies, including Agile processes

Skills Desired 
•  Experience with a scripting language; Python preferred
•  Experience in the financial industry
•  Experience with JIRA and standard Agile ceremonies and practices
•  Familiarity with Jenkins
•  Familiarity with Data Warehouse / Data Lake reporting concepts and design.
