Job Description Summary
GE Vernova Gas Power HD Services Design Engineering E&I is looking for a Design Engineer Electrical Systems for gas turbine power plants and combined cycle power plants (CCPPs).

You will be a critical part of the entire project lifecycle from initial scoping through design and field installation, support, and validation.

As a Design Engineer you will work closely with the Power Services project engineering team and customers to learn about existing gas turbine power plants and develop solutions that bring significant value to the customers and the PS business via Conversions, Modifications, and Upgrades (CM&Us) and NPIs. In this role, you will work on design, development and provides support to the global fleet of GE Vernova Heavy Duty Gas Turbines for accessory systems and related Balance of Plant equipment to improve upon reliability, performance, emission, efficiency and safety. Projects vary from small electrical system upgrades to repowering entire gas turbine generator set with latest proven technology. In this role you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Engineering
  • Engineering Excellence: Solve complex technical challenges across Gas Turbine (GT) and Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) projects, ensuring all designs meet rigorous safety and process engineering standards.
  • System Integration: Oversee the seamless integration of new systems within existing power plant infrastructure, ensuring alignment with overall project requirements.
  • Documentation & Quality Control: Maintain meticulous design documentation and verify that all drawings and Bill of Material (BOM) structures strictly adhere to electrical scope and contractual requirements.

Project Management & Collaboration
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Serve as a key liaison between internal organizations (Manufacturing, Sourcing, Global Engineering, and Advanced Technologies) to drive project alignment and technical synergy.
  • Vendor Management: Lead technical engagement with vendors, ensuring all supplied products and systems fully conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • Team Contribution: Act as a core member of Application (Offer) and Requisition (Execution) engineering teams, contributing to the successful delivery of CM&U and NPI projects.

Customer Support & Problem Solving
  • Technical Support: Deliver timely and accurate technical resolutions to support field installation teams and address customer-specific inquiries.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of professional experience within power or related industry, with a strong background in field services, electrical engineering, or strongly related function.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • The work location for this role is Greenville, SC (Relocation assistance provided if not already local).

Desired Characteristics:
  • Deep familiarity with power plant electrical equipment, including generator breakers, excitation systems, starting systems, transformers, and complex relay/protection schemes.
  • Proven capability in sizing LV/MV equipment and interconnect cabling, alongside extensive experience in hardware integration within complex system environments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of national and international codes, standards, and directives (e.g., IEC, NEC, CSA, IECEx, ATEX).
  • Solid understanding of power plant components and operational functionality.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with professional fluency in English, enabling effective collaboration with global teams and stakeholders.

Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $89,300.00 and $148,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
