Summary

iOS Lead Engineer – Connected Vehicle
12-18 months
Auburn Hillsm, MI - Onsite

Build the iOS experience that connects users to their vehicles—securely, reliably, and at scale. In this role you’ll lead an agile iOS team while staying hands-on in the code, elevating quality through testing and design patterns, and modernizing the delivery pipeline with Fastlane and CI/CD so releases are repeatable, automated, and fast.
What You’ll Do
  • Lead a team of 5+ engineers in an Agile/Scrum environment (planning, execution, delivery, coaching).
  • Design, build, and maintain native iOS features end-to-end (architecture → implementation → testing → release).
  • Own mobile CI/CD and automated release pipelines using tools like Fastlane and Jenkins (or similar).
  • Manage Apple Developer Portal workflows: certificates, provisioning profiles, entitlements, signing, and releases.
  • Configure and optimize Xcode schemes/configurations, build settings, build phases, and multi-environment builds.
  • Implement and integrate iOS extensions (e.g., Intents/Intents UI, Watch, Action extensions, etc.) as needed.
  • Integrate iOS apps with REST APIs and ensure reliability, performance, and secure communication.
  • Drive engineering quality: code reviews, design patterns, conventions, unit tests, UI tests, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure strong mobile security practices (data at rest/on device and data in transit).
  • Present concepts, technical approaches, and POCs to stakeholders and executive audiences when required.
  • Support localization needs for global markets (i18n/l10n considerations).
Required Skills & Experience (Must-Haves)
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience with strong depth in native iOS development.
  • Experience leading a development team of 5+ engineers using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Strong experience implementing and operating CI/CD for mobile apps (Fastlane + Jenkins or similar).
  • Fastlane expertise (build automation, signing, distribution, release workflows).
  • Comfortable with Apple Developer Portal (certificates, profiles, entitlements, signing).
  • Strong understanding of iOS internals / OS-level concepts and best practices.
  • Experience with iOS extension implementation/integration (Intents, Intents UI, Watch, Action extensions, etc.).
  • Strong skills in Xcode configuration (schemes, build settings, build phases).
  • Experience integrating with REST web services.
  • Proficiency with Git and modern branching/versioning practices.
  • Knowledge of secure mobile development and common security risks/mitigations.
Nice-to-Haves (Differentiators)
  • Prior experience with connected vehicle platforms, telematics, mobility, or automotive integrations.
  • Experience localizing apps for global markets (multiple languages/regions).
  • Strong presentation skills for technical concepts and stakeholder alignment.
  • Demonstrated ownership of release quality, reliability, and automation at scale.
What Success Looks Like
  • CI/CD and release processes are stable, automated, and repeatable (minimal manual signing/build pain).
  • The iOS team ships features predictably with solid test coverage and consistent code standards.
  • Security and data handling practices are implemented by design—not bolted on later.
  • Stakeholders trust estimates, progress, and delivery outcomes.
