Candidate preference towards local Clearwater, FL area candidates but company stakeholders will consider an out of area candidate if highly skilled in new product development in a SaaS world, Javascript expert, Typescript, Next.JS, Nest.JS, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
We are looking for a senior software engineer to help build and evolve a modern platform that serves dental practices across the country. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is based in Clearwater, Florida, and is ideal for someone who thrives in SaaS product environments and enjoys shaping scalable, cloud-based solutions. Although the position spans full stack development, the strongest focus is on backend engineering, application design, data architecture, and reliable cloud infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Create and enhance SaaS applications using TypeScript, NestJS, and PostgreSQL, with an emphasis on performance, maintainability, and scale.
Develop backend APIs and core services that power platform capabilities and support dependable application behavior.
Build user-facing features and application flows with Next.js to deliver a modern and responsive experience.
Design, refine, and optimize PostgreSQL schemas and queries to support large data volumes and efficient system performance.
Architect and implement cloud-native solutions in AWS using secure, resilient, and scalable design principles.
Partner with product leaders, UX stakeholders, and engineering teams to translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
Contribute to architectural planning, peer code reviews, and engineering standards that improve software quality and team execution.
Deliver secure, highly available applications capable of supporting large user populations and complex datasets.
Support long-range platform growth by contributing to roadmap discussions and technical scalability planning.
Requirements
7+ years of software engineering experience.
Strong hands-on expertise with JavaScript and TypeScript in production environments.
Proven experience building backend applications with NestJS.
Experience developing front-end applications with Next.js.
Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and database performance tuning.
Practical experience designing, deploying, and supporting solutions in AWS.
Background building SaaS products within Agile, product-focused organizations.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
