Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Snowflake Technical Architect to design, build, and govern our cloud data platform. The architect will define the data architecture, lead the technical design of ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers on Snowflake, and guide engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable, and cost-efficient solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and own the end-to-end Snowflake architecture, including account structure, databases, schemas, warehouses, and environments (Dev/QA/Prod)
  • Define data modeling standards (dimensional, data vault, or medallion layers) for the enterprise data warehouse and data marts
  • Architect data ingestion pipelines using Snowpipe, Streams and Tasks, and batch/real-time integration tools
  • Lead migration of legacy data warehouses (Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, etc.) to Snowflake
  • Establish security and governance: RBAC, row/column-level security, masking policies, encryption, and data sharing
  • Optimize performance and cost through warehouse sizing, clustering, query tuning, caching, and resource monitors
  • Define CI/CD, DevOps, and code management practices for Snowflake objects (Git, dbt, Terraform, or similar)
  • Integrate Snowflake with BI and analytics tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.) and upstream source systems
  • Review designs and code, mentor data engineers, and enforce best practices
  • Create architecture diagrams, technical design documents, and runbooks
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, analysts, and security teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Support production issues, monitoring, and platform enhancements

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in data warehousing/data engineering, with 2+ years of hands-on Snowflake architecture and implementation

  • Strong expertise in Snowflake features: virtual warehouses, Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks, Time Travel, Zero-Copy Cloning, Secure Data Sharing, and Snowpark
  • Advanced SQL and strong performance tuning skills; working knowledge of Python or another scripting language
  • Experience with ETL/ELT tools (Informatica, Matillion, Fivetran, Azure Data Factory, dbt, or similar)
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and data governance
  • Experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) and its storage and security services
  • Experience with security, RBAC design, and compliance requirements
  • Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • SnowPro Core or SnowPro Advanced: Architect certification
  • Experience with data migration from on-prem to Snowflake
  • Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, Control-M) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Exposure to data catalog, lineage, and data quality tools
  • Experience with real-time/streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis)
  • Experience in [industry: confirm, e.g., pharma, finance, healthcare]
