Summary

Senior DevOps Engineer
An established industrial supply company is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help expand and enhance its Platform Product team. This hybrid role is located in downtown Chicago, IL and is a full-time position.
In this role, you will tackle complex business challenges through automation, self-service capabilities, and standardized solutions that minimize risk while accelerating delivery. You will also champion cloud best practices and drive initiatives that enable teams to build and operate more effectively in the cloud.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of experience working in software engineering, architecture, administration, and observability with the ability to coordinate efforts across multiple departments
  • 3+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer building and operating services in production such as web frontends with React or similar tools
  • 3+ years of experience working in a multi-team codebase coding using Python or Java
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD principles with the proven ability to identify and resolve issues
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes and containers and skilled at building services with FastAPI or similar tools
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's of Masters Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology (or must have comparable hands-on experience in a related discipline)
  • Exceptional cross-collaborative and communication skills
  • AWS Solutions Architect Certification
What You Will Be Doing
Tech Breakdown
  • IaC tools such as Terraform and automation via API or CLI
  • Cloud systems such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure via UI, API, and CLI or automation
  • CI/CD tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, or Github


Daily Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering teams to create solutions for automating cloud processes throughout the SDLC
  • Coordinate with your Engineering Manager to recommend secure defaults and advise on clean coding practices, pipeline test coverage, and observability
  • Utilize a pro-AI workplace mindset with the ability to quickly learn new technologies, language, and frameworks and share with others
  • Build and evolve automated, self-service solutions that improve operational efficiency, reliability, and consistency across the organization
