Summary

Information Security Engineer, Agentic AI

Securing Autonomous AI Workflows in Computational Drug Discovery

The Opportunity

AI agents that plan and act with little human oversight open attack paths that traditional security controls never anticipated. This role centers on closing those gaps inside a research organization where computation drives the science itself. The hire will set the standard for how the organization defends its systems, investigate and neutralize threats as they surface, and build automation that handles recurring security problems at scale. The company seeks engineers of exceptional caliber who pair deep practical experience with strong academic training.

The company is a New York City research organization working in computational biochemistry and drug discovery. Its scientists model molecules of biological and pharmaceutical significance at atomic resolution, then apply that understanding to design highly selective drugs aimed at specific diseases.

The Research Environment

The company pairs specialized, large-scale computing infrastructure, purpose-built to speed up molecular dynamics simulation, with fast commodity hardware and machine learning methods. That computational stack supports both in-house drug discovery programs and programs run jointly with outside partners, so the systems this team protects serve several distinct research efforts at once.

What You’ll Do

  • Design safeguards for agentic AI processes, the team’s central area of focus
  • Investigate potential threats and vulnerabilities across the organization and drive each one to resolution
  • Develop and refine the security processes that govern how the company protects its research and infrastructure
  • Build automation that detects and mitigates common security issues without manual intervention
  • Own the ongoing operation of those automated defenses, tuning them as new risks emerge
  • Communicate risks and remediation plans clearly to technical colleagues across the organization

What You Bring

  • An outstanding academic record, reflecting the rigor the company expects across its technical staff
  • Demonstrated, hands-on experience with Information Security fundamentals, including Threat Detection & Response, Vulnerability Management, Penetration Testing, Common Attack Vectors, and Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR)
  • Fluent Programming and Scripting skills
  • The ability to explain security reasoning to specialists and non-specialists alike
  • Further depth in areas such as:
    • Hands-on operational work in DevSecOps
    • Writing Security Policies and operating procedures
    • Rolling out and running Security Tooling
    • Hardening Agentic AI systems and the workflows built on them
    • Automating Vulnerability Detection and Mitigation

Paths Into This Role

Candidates whose advanced training centered on Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Applied Mathematics, particularly work touching systems security, networking, cryptography, or adversarial machine learning, will find it maps directly onto this role. The strongest candidates combine that academic foundation with proven operational experience defending real systems.

Compensation & Total Rewards

  • Base salary: $250,000–$800,000 per year, set according to the depth of a candidate’s experience and academic background
  • Variable pay: a sign-on bonus and a year-end bonus
  • Benefits: a generous package that includes relocation support
  • Work arrangement: hybrid, 3 days onsite, 2 days remote
