Role summary:
Walmart is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable software solutions. This role involves analyzing requirements, driving architectural decisions, and ensuring code quality aligned with business objectives. The successful candidate will collaborate across teams to deliver high-availability, secure, and maintainable systems while supporting continuous integration and deployment processes. This position requires expertise in software design patterns, cloud-native architecture, and testing methodologies to advance Walmart's technology capabilities and meet evolving customer and operational needs.

About the team:
The Walmart eCommerce Marketplace team develops innovative solutions connecting global sellers with millions of buyers, offering access to over 350 million items. Collaborating with Strategy, Product, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Procurement, Transportation, and Supply Chain partners, the team enhances seller tools and processes. Focused on scalable and efficient experiences, members apply strong technical skills and a delivery-driven approach to foster continuous improvement. The team is committed to building best-in-class marketplace solutions that support seller growth and provide customers with a seamless and reliable shopping journey.

What you'll do:
  • Analyze and classify requirements to align software solutions with business objectives and technical needs.
  • Assist in designing scalable, secure, and maintainable software components using appropriate architectures and design patterns.
  • Develop, review, and maintain code following industry standards and evolving technology trends.
  • Implement automation scripts to support continuous integration and delivery processes.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to security and quality standards.
  • Collaborate on test strategy development and oversee execution to validate functionality and performance.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot defects and optimize application performance through data-driven analysis.

What you'll bring:
  • Proven expertise in software architecture, design patterns, and scalable distributed systems.
  • Strong proficiency in coding languages such as JavaScript and Python, with adherence to coding standards and security best practices.
  • Experience in DevOps engineering, including CI/CD automation and telemetry implementation.
  • Ability to analyze and classify requirements, perform risk assessments, and translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Skilled in conducting code reviews, defect management, and troubleshooting performance issues.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and software prototyping to drive innovation.
  • Competence in test strategy development and execution using relevant tools and methodologies.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...
