About the roleWe are seeking a Lead Scrum Master who will empower Agile teams to deliver high-quality, predictable outcomes while continuously elevating their ways of working. In this role, you will guide teams through Agile ceremonies, coach product and engineering partners, proactively manage delivery risks, and ensure strong alignment with enterprise Agile practices.
This position requires a confident, influential leader who brings clarity, promotes flow, and drives accountability in a complex delivery environment. You will leverage data, metrics, and operational insights to help teams mature and consistently deliver measurable value.
What you will doAgile Leadership & Delivery- Lead and facilitate all Agile ceremonies with a focus on clear outcomes and commitment to delivery goals.
- Maintain deep understanding of team priorities, the product backlog, and value delivered.
- Protect team focus by managing scope, surfacing risks, addressing dependencies, and mitigating unplanned work.
Coaching & Team Enablement- Coach Product Owners, Engineers, and team members on Agile frameworks, behaviors, and high-performing team practices.
- Provide real-time, targeted coaching to strengthen flow, quality, predictability, and alignment.
- Assess and report on team maturity monthly, supported by measurable coaching plans.
- Resolve team conflicts within one sprint through facilitation techniques and updated team agreements.
Continuous Improvement & Metrics- Drive continuous improvement using team metrics (cycle time, throughput, WIP, rollover), retrospectives, and insights-based coaching.
- Meet monthly (minimum) with Product and Engineering partners to review maturity, operational improvements, and KPI trends.
- Maintain expert proficiency in JIRA, creating dashboards and automations that visualize performance and identify improvement opportunities.
Risk & Dependency Management- Identify and surface impediments within 24 hours and maintain an impediment backlog (via JIRA).
- Coordinate cross-team dependencies proactively, ensuring early visibility and timely resolution.
- Drive alignment on sprint goals, validate acceptance criteria before commitment, and mitigate scope creep.
Communication & Professionalism- Demonstrate strong leadership presence through transparent, data-driven communication.
- Respond to feedback within 48 hours and seek clarification when needed.
- Model calm, fact-based communication during escalations and high-pressure situations.
Basic qualifications- Excellent communication and facilitation skills
- Ability to think creatively and apply innovative problem-solving approaches
- Strong capabilities in leading Agile ceremonies and enabling team performance
Nice to have- Background or training in education, coaching, or influence-based leadership
- Experience using influence rather than authority to drive behavioral change
