UX Designer IV

Location: Stamford, Connecticut (Onsite)

Role Overview

This is a Design Lead position reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Service and Customer Experience. The Design Lead designs features that directly impact the consumer experience with the organization's digital communications. This role involves designing innovative solutions by collaborating with all involved teams and supporting new and existing features. The Design Lead is considered a subject matter expert for multiple programs and systems, shaping standards, processes, and quality expectations across various teams and projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design of mockups, user flows, and high-fidelity artifacts to support product requirements.
  • Partner with the wider design team to drive cross-platform consistency and design system adherence.
  • Develop, modify, enhance, and implement design specifications and assets suitable for implementation.
  • Establish standards for how design intent is documented and validated through implementation.
  • Set cadence expectations for the team, balancing throughput with quality standards.
  • Own the escalation framework, balancing quality standards against velocity pressure.
  • Organize files and follow all established design patterns.
  • Lead design reviews and brainstorming sessions to help solve problems.
  • Partner with the cross-functional team to understand expectations, priorities, and deliverables.
  • Mentor and coach the design team in best practices and organize and assign their work.
Required Qualifications

Experience:
  • 7+ years of digital design experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma or equivalent.
  • Experience with project estimation and capacity planning.
  • Experience mentoring and developing junior to senior designers.
  • Experience setting the standard for quality and determining when work is ready to move forward.
  • Experience with escalation management, balancing quality against velocity.


Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and project/task management platforms like Jira and Confluence.
  • In-depth understanding of platform-specific nomenclature and UX best practices.
  • Knowledge of new design techniques and evolving design workflows.


Abilities:
  • Ability to demonstrate UI and UX design skills via a portfolio.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to be self-directed.
  • Client communication skills and the ability to present and sell ideas to various audiences.
  • Ability to deliver against several initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to assess new tools and methodologies for team adoption, including AI approaches.
  • Ability to fully engage and collaborate with a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience authoring team-wide design guidelines, pattern libraries, and standards.
  • A track record of communicating practice or strategy updates to leadership or cross-functional audiences.
  • Experience driving design system updates based on patterns observed in implementation output.
