Senior Cybersecurity Engineer

Contract Duration: 6 months, with potential extension - W2
Pay: $82.00/hr

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Application Security Engineer to help strengthen enterprise application security while driving innovation through AI-powered automation. This role will focus on conducting security assessments of internally developed and third-party applications, identifying vulnerabilities, supporting remediation efforts, and developing AI-driven solutions that accelerate and enhance security processes.

The ideal candidate combines deep application security expertise with a strong understanding of modern software development, cloud technologies, and automation. This individual will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and security teams to improve the organization's overall security posture and help scale security operations through intelligent automation.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct security assessments of internally developed and third-party applications.
  • Evaluate application architectures and identify potential security risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and vendor teams to understand system designs and security requirements.
  • Develop and maintain standardized security assessment frameworks and methodologies.
  • Design and implement AI-driven tools that automate security assessments, compliance validation, threat modeling, policy enforcement, and software supply chain security reviews.
  • Document findings and provide actionable recommendations to improve application security.
  • Track remediation activities and validate implemented fixes to ensure risk reduction.
  • Contribute to the development of secure design patterns, security standards, and reusable security components.
  • Stay current on emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and advancements in AI-driven security technologies.
  • Support initiatives focused on accelerating and modernizing security processes through automation.
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of cybersecurity experience with hands-on application security assessment and remediation expertise.
  • Strong understanding of secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) practices.
  • Experience with threat modeling, vulnerability management, and application security testing.
  • Hands-on experience using security assessment tools and platforms, including AI-enhanced security solutions.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native architectures, APIs, microservices, and modern development frameworks.
  • Experience collaborating with software engineering and cross-functional technical teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and communicate security risks to technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, OSCP, CSSLP, or similar.
  • Experience developing security automation tools using scripting or programming languages.
  • Familiarity with modern development and automation environments utilizing technologies such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, and GitHub.
  • Experience assessing security risks in third-party software and software supply chains.
  • Exposure to AI/ML applications within cybersecurity programs.
Education
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
