Job DescriptionThe Sr. Director, Renewable Engineering position is responsible and accountable for completing technical work and directs other in the planning, designing, procurement and construction of renewable energy development due diligence and projects, including new generation facilities and upgrades, energy storage, environmental, communications, asset acquisitions, new technology reviews, and other projects as assigned. Leads the technical evaluation and due diligence on potential investments, acquisitions, research on new and proven equipment and other business evaluations. This position will also be responsible for the technical components related to the preparation and administration of contracts, permit applications, environmental filings and financial and regulatory filings, as well as reports, project schedules and plans, project financials, invoicing and development and construction status of projects.
Responsibilities - Provide leadership and guidance to renewable energy engineering team in the technical planning, designing, procurement and construction of renewable energy development due diligence and projects, including new generation facilities and upgrades, energy storage, environmental, communications, asset acquisitions, new technology reviews, and other projects as assigned.
- Develop and implement standards, best practices and processes for completing technical work in the planning, designing, procurement and construction of renewable energy development due diligence and projects.
- Lead technical project management for all phases of a project including scheduling, design, estimating, budgeting, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections, and managing multiple contractors on a project site.
- Conduct engineering investigations, studies, or advanced studies with complex investigations to prepare oral and written reports of results and recommendations.
- Provides engineering assistance to other departments, technical input or advanced technical leadership to staff.
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution; preference for civil and electrical engineering disciplines.
- Professional engineer designation or advanced degree preferred.
- 8 years of related experience, including three years supervisory/management responsibilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
- Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently.
- Expertise in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Experience with project management software such as Microsoft Project or Oracle Primavera preferred. Leadership skills to provide guidance, direction, orientation and instruction.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including the ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds.
- Excellent analytical and evaluation skills to define critical tasks and establish optimum sequence of events and identify required resources.
