Job Summary

The Director, AI & Automation will provide strategic and operational leadership for Medline's AI & Automation practice in India. This senior leadership role is responsible for developing organizational capability, driving enterprise AI adoption, delivering a portfolio of high-impact solutions, and ensuring best-in-class engineering, governance, and delivery excellence.

The successful candidate will bring a combination of business acumen, technology vision, people leadership, and execution excellence to transform ideas into scalable business outcomes. Working closely with global stakeholders, this leader will help shape the future of AI and automation across the enterprise while building a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach and develop the Pune-based AI & Automation organization, including managers, technical leads, engineers, data scientists, developers, analysts and delivery professionals.
  • Create a clear India operating model with defined accountabilities, decision rights, career paths, succession plans and capability-building priorities.
  • Partner with business and technology leaders to identify high-value opportunities across commercial, operations, product, support and corporate functions.
  • Own predictable delivery from proof of concept through production scale, adoption and run support.

Guide solution choices across predictive machine learning, generative AI, agentic systems, computer vision, optimization, RPA, intelligent document processing, low-code platforms and ticketing automation.

Strengthening AI engineering practices for enterprise search, retrieval-augmented generation, agents, model deployment, monitoring, LLMOps/MLOps, APIs and cloud-native integration.

Advance automation practices that combine process redesign with the right mix of workflow, RPA, low-code and AI technologies.

Institute consistent product, program and engineering practices across requirements, architecture, development, testing, release, documentation, support and continuous improvement.

  • Define and execute the AI & Automation strategy aligned with organizational priorities and business growth objectives.
  • Drive innovation through the adoption of Generative AI, Intelligent Automation, Machine Learning, and advanced analytics.
  • Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing team of AI, Automation, Engineering, and Data professionals.
  • Lead a diverse portfolio of AI and automation initiatives from strategy through execution and value realization.
  • Establish delivery excellence standards across product development, engineering, platform operations, and support functions.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Provide Technical leadership across AI technologies including Generative AI, Agentic AI, Machine Learning, Intelligent Document Processing, RPA, Low-Code Platforms, and AI-powered business solutions.
  • Champion modern engineering practices, platform reusability, cloud adoption, and AI governance.
  • Establish robust AI governance frameworks and Responsible AI practices.
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, regulatory, and enterprise architecture standards. Partner with Legal, Privacy, Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, Procurement, audit and business owners to meet review and evidence requirements.

#Work Experience & Required Skills:

  • Proven experience leading large-scale technology, AI, automation, or digital transformation organizations.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 18+ years of progressive technology experience, including substantial leadership responsibility in enterprise AI, data science, intelligent automation, software engineering or digital transformation.
  • 8+ years leading managers and multidisciplinary teams in a global delivery environment, preferably with India and U.S. stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success delivering a portfolio of enterprise solutions from discovery through production operations and adoption.
  • Working depth across several of the following: machine learning, generative AI, agentic AI, RAG, enterprise search, MLOps/LLMOps, RPA, intelligent document processing, low-code, workflow and API-based integration.
  • Experience with cloud-based AI and application platforms. Microsoft Azure ecosystem experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong command of architecture, secure software lifecycle, DevSecOps, testing, observability, production support, data protection and cost management practices.
  • Experience establishing governance, quality controls and risk management for AI and automation solutions.
  • Exceptional people leadership, executive communication, stakeholder management, prioritization, financial acumen and change leadership.
  • Ability to work across time zones and travel periodically within India and internationally as business needs require.
