Position Overview
As an SAP ERP – Production Planning & Manufacturing Lead, you will play a critical role in leading and optimizing SAP-enabled production planning and manufacturing processes across the organization.
The ideal candidate will have strong functional expertise in SAP Production Planning (PP) and extensive knowledge of manufacturing business processes, including demand management, MRP, production orders, capacity planning, shop-floor execution, and production master data.
In this role, you will work closely with manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, procurement, quality, finance, and IT stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable SAP solutions and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, configuration, and support of SAP Production Planning (PP) and manufacturing processes.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into effective SAP ERP solutions.
- Lead workshops and discussions with business stakeholders to understand manufacturing requirements and define future-state processes.
- Configure and support SAP PP processes including Demand Management, MRP, Production Orders, Capacity Planning, and Shop-Floor Execution.
- Support end-to-end production planning processes from demand through production execution and completion.
- Configure and maintain production master data, including material master, BOMs, work centers, routings, production versions, and planning parameters.
- Support MRP planning runs, exception messages, planning strategies, and material availability processes.
- Support production order creation, scheduling, release, confirmation, goods movements, and order settlement.
- Analyze production capacity requirements and support capacity planning and leveling.
- Support integration between SAP PP and related modules including MM, SD, QM, PM, FI/CO, and warehouse processes.
- Work with supply chain and manufacturing teams to improve production planning, scheduling, inventory, and operational efficiency.
- Identify process gaps and recommend opportunities for automation, standardization, and continuous improvement.
- Lead functional testing activities, including unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, and UAT.
- Prepare functional specifications, process documentation, configuration documents, and user training materials.
- Coordinate with ABAP, integration, SAP Basis, and other technical teams to deliver required solutions.
- Support SAP implementations, rollouts, upgrades, migrations, and production support activities.
- Troubleshoot complex production planning and manufacturing issues and provide root-cause analysis.
- Support data migration, validation, cutover, and Go-Live activities.
- Provide guidance and functional leadership to SAP PP consultants and business users.
- Ensure SAP manufacturing solutions align with business objectives, operational requirements, and industry best practices.
- Stay current with SAP S/4HANA manufacturing capabilities and emerging technologies that can improve production planning and execution.
Experience
- Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in SAP PP / Production Planning and Manufacturing.
- Strong hands-on experience with SAP ERP / SAP S/4HANA Production Planning (PP).
- Strong understanding of end-to-end manufacturing and production planning processes.
- Hands-on experience with MRP, Demand Management, Production Orders, Capacity Planning, Scheduling, and Shop-Floor Execution.
- Strong experience with SAP manufacturing master data, including BOMs, Routings, Work Centers, Production Versions, and Material Master.
- Experience with SAP PP integration with MM, SD, QM, PM, FI/CO, and other related modules.
- Proven experience leading SAP PP implementations, rollouts, upgrades, or transformation projects.
- Strong business-process analysis and solution-design skills.
- Experience working directly with manufacturing business stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of SAP Fiori and modern S/4HANA manufacturing applications is a plus.
- Exposure to SAP Digital Manufacturing, SAP IBP, or advanced planning solutions is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work independently, lead functional discussions, and drive solutions from requirements through implementation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-focused approach.
