The Community You Will Join

As a product-centric Staff Android Engineer on the Reputation Clients team at Airbnb, you'll play a critical role in partnering with our product and design leads to drive our Quality-focused initiatives. This domain spans across evergreen workstreams focused on Standards enforcement, as well as major release headliners that revamp our Insights and Host/Guest Performance experiences. You'll work with other engineers to define, build, and shape the future of Airbnb's Listings and Quality related product flows, such as reviews, performance insights, and supply onboarding and management. The team is highly collaborative with its partners in design, product, data science, legal, and marketing to deliver features and experiences used by millions of people. We work closely with other engineering teams to ensure we build systems that are performant and configurable with architecture that's scalable and robust.

A Typical Day:
  • Work closely with other senior leaders to define and drive critical product systems that enable the company's future vision
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners such as Product Managers, Experience Designers, and Engineers to design and deliver high-quality user experiences
  • Establish a technical vision and lead efforts to architect, build, and launch reliable, performant, and scalable solutions for Quality-related products.
  • Provide critical input in team roadmap and technical direction.
  • Influence and collaborate with stakeholders to adopt team goals and roadmaps.
  • Identify areas of improvement and drive best practices
  • Hands-on development, including design, code reviews, and leadership presentations.
  • Mentor, guide, and support the career growth of individual contributors

Your Expertise:
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the tech industry; 1+ years of experience in an Architect or Staff Engineer role, with ownership responsibility over multiple product surfaces.
  • A product-focused Android engineer, preferably with experience using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. You're also aware of cross-platform similarities and differences, and can advocate for web and Android concerns
  • Strong sense for product experience and business outcomes, willingness to experiment and anticipate future product needs.
  • Track record of strong partnership with product and design leadership, through proactive collaboration, iterative development, and leadership demos.
  • Experience leading multiple engineering teams, architecting, building, and releasing complex user products.
  • Excellent engineering and coding skills, and experience working with GraphQL and REST APIs. Solid understanding client networking, performance, caching, client storage solutions, accessibility, and asynchronous programming. Animation and motion experience, a plus.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical partners. Demonstrated ability to influence non-technical partners such as product managers, design, and the business to develop a unified approach to overall architecture and product/design capabilities. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with Android, iOS, web, and backend engineers.
  • A proven track record of fostering a culture of Diversity and Belonging, within the organization and across the tech community

How We'll Take Care of You:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

Pay Range

$204,000-$255,000 USD
