Azure DevOps Architect

Location: Downtown Dallas, TX (Hybrid Onsite Interview Required)
Duration: 6-Month Contract to Hire W2

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced DevOps Architect to lead the strategic design, engineering, and governance of enterprise DevOps platforms, with a primary focus on Azure DevOps and GitHub Enterprise.

This role operates within a highly regulated financial environment and requires strong expertise in secure, scalable CI/CD architecture, DevSecOps integration, compliance alignment (FINRA, SOX), and enterprise governance.

The Architect will lead an offshore DevOps team through an MSP partnership while collaborating closely with development, cybersecurity, risk, and audit teams.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Engineering

Design and implement enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Enterprise
Define DevOps architecture standards, automation strategies, and reusable deployment templates
Drive Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) adoption and automation initiatives
Optimize pipeline performance, scalability, and reliability across hybrid/cloud environments

Security & Compliance

Integrate DevSecOps controls (code scanning, secrets management, policy enforcement)
Ensure compliance with financial regulatory frameworks (FINRA, SOX)
Maintain governance, audit readiness, and change control processes
Partner with cybersecurity and risk teams for secure coding and vulnerability management
Support internal and external audits with required documentation and evidence

Leadership & Governance

Lead and mentor offshore DevOps engineers managed through MSP
Serve as primary liaison between business and MSP
Review and approve architecture standards and technical designs
Monitor KPIs, SLAs, and service delivery metrics
Manage annual DevOps budget and vendor contracts
Maintain DevOps roadmap and drive modernization efforts

Operational Excellence

Support production incidents, RCA, and change management
Maintain runbooks, architecture diagrams, and support documentation
Provide executive-level reporting on DevOps maturity, risks, and opportunities

Required Qualifications

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master s preferred)
8+ years of DevOps engineering/architecture experience
Deep expertise in Azure DevOps and GitHub Enterprise
Strong knowledge of CI/CD, DevSecOps, IaC, and cloud-native development
Hands-on experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Terraform, Ansible)
Experience in regulated financial environments
Proven experience managing distributed engineering teams
Strong stakeholder communication and leadership skills
Experience in incident handling, change management, and technical documentation
