Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Electric Drives Lab Engineer to support testing and validation activities for power electronics used in locomotive and mining systems. This role will focus on setting up laboratory tests, executing validation procedures, and analyzing performance data for new product introductions (NPI) and second-source power electronics components.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in power electronics testing, data analysis, and lab instrumentation, along with hands-on experience working with IGBTs, inverters, sensors, and high-power electrical systems. The engineer will collaborate with component engineers and lab leadership to ensure high performance, reliability, and quality of power electronic systems.

The position requires strong technical skills in LabVIEW, MATLAB, electrical testing equipment, and reliability testing methodologies while delivering clear reports and actionable insights to engineering stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related engineering discipline
  • Strong understanding of power electronics components and systems
  • Experience with test development, validation, and data analysis
  • Knowledge of lab instrumentation and electrical measurement techniques
  • Familiarity with industrial power electronics applications
  • Strong technical documentation and reporting skills
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in power electronics testing or validation labs
  • Hands-on experience testing IGBTs, GTOs, inverter assemblies, transformers, sensors, or bus bars
  • Experience with functional testing, environmental testing, and reliability testing
  • Experience using LabVIEW, MATLAB, and Excel for test data analysis
  • Experience working with oscilloscopes, multimeters, sensors, probes, and other electrical testing tools
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) testing and validation programs
