Required Education/Experience: 

Bachelor''s degree in engineering with 1-2 years of experience 

Required Qualifications: 
• The main function of a research engineer is to support machine software and controls development
• A typical research engineer will work on engineering assignments that build expertise in machine products, systems and technology platforms
• The focus will be on current and next generation machine software testing, controls feature evaluations and offboard connectivity validation to ensure products perform as intended and meet high quality standards and customer expectations.

Required Technical Skills: 
• Experience in testing or validation within heavy equipment, automotive, or industrial machinery.
• Experience designing and executing testing strategies. Experience with construction, forestry, mining or agricultural equipment is a plus.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues related to machine software and controls. Use tools such as CANape and CANalyzer for machine functionality.
• Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Team player and detail oriented.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and electrical schematics.
• Ability to work on your feet for extended periods in varied conditions (indoor/outdoor, hot/cold, dusty).
• Ability to safely operate equipment after training.

Responsibilities: 
• Make safety the top priority and champion continuous improvement in every aspect of testing. Share ideas to enhance safety, efficiency, product performance, and customer value.
• Plan and execute software and controls tests for current and next generation machines and technology platforms to confirm they meet program and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with extended engineering, software and technology teams, develop test plans, document standard work procedures, execute checkouts and validation activities, and analyze results.
• Apply hands-on skills and technical knowledge to troubleshoot and validate a variety of complex electrical, electronic, and software systems.
• Work closely with on-site engineers, technicians, and operators to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Use tools like CANape, CANalyzer, Excel, PowerBI and MS Office to turn raw data into actionable insights
• Support test and validation activities on large mining equipment
• Test validation – validating the functionality of software and controls features; common area – carrying out requirements; system level testing; working with mechanics, instrumentation technicians and operators
