Title: Database Engineer
Location: Dallas, TX only - 5 days onsite
Contract: W2 only

Overview
Assists in developing, supporting, and implementing data solutions for multiple applications to meet business objectives. Performs data requirement analysis and data preparation process development for targeted data solutions. Participates in designing and building data service infrastructure across multiple data platforms, ensuring scalability, availability, and maintainability.
Key Responsibilities

Coordinate the collection, normalization, and analysis of datasets across multiple data platforms.
Assist in designing and building data service infrastructure across multiple data platforms.
Work with analytics teams to ensure functionality in data systems.
Participate in the development and implementation of data solutions for multiple applications to ensure scalability and maintainability.
Design and implement process improvements including automation of processes and redesign of data infrastructure.
Own significant components of the database platform (specific schemas/domains, key performance areas, or HA/DR operational ownership) with minimal guidance.
Lead technical workstreams (e.g., partitioning rollout, performance remediation, operational readiness) and drive them to closure.
Improve runbooks/automation; contribute to production incident response and prevention.

Required Skills

Strong hands-on experience designing and operating high-volume, enterprise OLTP databases supporting mission-critical transactions.
Advanced SQL and performance tuning experience.
MySQL and Oracle experience.
Experience with operational best practices: backup/restore validation, patch planning, monitoring/alerting, incident response, and runbooks.
Proven ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and security with clear, structured communication.

Preferred Skills

Exadata experience
Data Guard experience (HA/DR, role transitions, validation of primary/standby states)
GoldenGate experience (replication design/operations)
Understanding of enterprise MySQL deployment/replication patterns (e.g., primary/replica cross-site patterns)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
