Position Summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer 6 to apply systems engineering principles across the full system life cycle, including concept, development, production, utilization, support, and retirement. This role interfaces with Government stakeholders, program personnel, and senior executives to address technical considerations, resolve issues and conflicts, and ensure the technical integrity, quality, and completeness of assigned work and deliverables. The position supports one or more of the ISO/IEC 15288 process areas, with particular relevance to cloud, AI/ML, platform engineering, security, and data lifecycle efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Apply systems engineering principles throughout all system life cycle phases, including concept, development, production, utilization, support, and retirement.
  • Interface with the Government regarding systems engineering technical considerations and associated problems, issues, or conflicts.
  • Communicate effectively with program personnel, Government overseers, and senior executives.
  • Ensure the technical integrity, quality, and completeness of work performed and deliverables.
  • Support one or more ISO/IEC 15288 process areas across technical, project, enterprise, and agreement disciplines.
  • Contribute to stakeholder requirements definition, requirements analysis, architectural design, implementation, integration, verification, transition, validation, operation, maintenance, and disposal activities.
  • Support project planning, project assessment and control, decision management, risk management, configuration management, information management, and measurement activities.
  • Support enterprise process areas such as project portfolio management, infrastructure management, lifecycle model management, human resource management, and quality management.
  • Support agreement process areas including acquisition and supply.
Required Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.
  • Twenty-four (24) years of general system engineering experience with a High School Diploma or GED; or twenty (20) years of systems engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or related discipline; or eighteen (18) years of systems engineering experience with a Master's degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or related discipline; or eighteen (18) years of systems engineering experience with a PhD in a Qualified Engineering Field or related discipline.
  • Experience applying systems engineering principles across the full system life cycle.
  • Ability to interact with Government stakeholders regarding technical considerations and associated issues or conflicts.
  • Ability to communicate with program personnel, Government overseers, and senior executives.
  • Ability to ensure the technical integrity, quality, and completeness of assigned work and deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with cloud architecture, cloud engineering, or platform engineering, especially in AWS.
  • Experience with AI/ML system design and implementation.
  • High-level understanding of the AI lifecycle, including development, training, inference, and monitoring.
  • Experience with ML pipeline development, model deployment, and DevOps/MLOps.
  • Experience with Amazon SageMaker.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a variety of stakeholder groups, including the ability to proactively engage stakeholders to understand requirements and inform system architecture decisions.
  • Experience with system security and networking, particularly implementation of system security on classified systems.
  • Experience with data engineering and data lifecycle management.
