Position Summary

The Data Center Technical Team Lead is responsible for supervising and directing day-to-day operations within the data center. This role serves as the primary field leader ensuring all installation, maintenance, and infrastructure activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with customer specifications, company standards, and industry best practices. The Team Lead coordinates technicians, oversees quality control, manages work priorities, and acts as the primary liaison between project management, customers, and field personnel.


Primary Responsibilities

Team Leadership

Lead and supervise daily activities of Data Center Mechanics.

  • Assign work tasks based on project priorities and skill levels.

  • Provide mechanical guidance, mentorship, and on-the-job training.

  • Monitor employee performance, productivity, and workmanship.

  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and professional development.

Coordination

  • Execute work in accordance with project schedules and milestones.

  • Coordinate with Managers, Engineers, Facility Managers, and customers.

  • Monitor progress and identify schedule risks.

  • Ensure work is completed within budgeted labor hours.

  • Assist with planning labor requirements and resource allocation.

Quality Assurance

  • Inspect completed work for accuracy and compliance.

  • Enforce company quality standards and customer requirements.

  • Verify completion of punch list items.

  • Ensure all documentation is accurate and complete.

  • Conduct quality audits as required.

Safety Compliance

  • Promote and enforce all safety policies and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and customer safety requirements.

  • Conduct daily safety briefings and job hazard assessments.

  • Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Monitor inventory of tools, equipment, and installation materials.

  • Coordinate equipment deliveries and staging.

  • Maintain accurate work logs and daily reports.

  • Support emergency maintenance and after-hours activities when required.

  • Quoting additional work - Maintaining margins

  • Assisting in Job Hazard Analysis / Scope of Work

Customer Relations

  • Serve as the primary field representative during execution.

  • Maintain professional communication with customers and vendors.

  • Addressing customer concerns promptly and professionally.

  • Provide project status updates to management and customers.

Documentation

  • Review and maintain:

  • BOL\'s
  • Long Term Storage documentation
  • Start Up Paperwork
  • Warranty Procedures
  • Daily work reports
  • Ensure documentation is submitted accurately and on schedule.

Pay Rate: $30.25 Hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.

This is a Bargaining Unit Position but is subject to all pre-hiring screening of JCI. With successful performance, JCI may recommend you to the Union Local apprenticeship program, as well as continued employment at JCI. Acceptance by Union Local must occur within 365 days of employment or will result in termination of this position. This is not a guaranty of employment or entering the Union. The Union has its own entry, qualification, & screening programs.
