RF Test & Integration Engineer (Tactical Communications / SDR Systems)

Position Overview

We are seeking an RF Test & Integration Engineer to support the development, integration, and testing of prototype tactical communications systems. This position involves both laboratory-based and over-the-air (OTA) testing, RF troubleshooting, test automation, and system-level performance evaluation.

The ideal candidate has experience with RF communications systems, software-defined radios (SDR), and hands-on lab integration using standard RF test equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and integrate RF communications testbeds using COTS and prototype components
• Define and execute manual and automated test procedures
• Develop and implement test automation tools and scripts
• Execute lab-based and OTA (over-the-air) testing of prototype tactical communications systems
• Perform RF communications data collection and organize performance datasets
• Analyze RF and network performance data and provide internal reporting
• Troubleshoot system-level integration issues across RF hardware and software components
• Use RF lab equipment such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, power meters, and DC power supplies
• Support SDR-based integration and development (Ettus USRP preferred)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or similar)
• 2+ years of experience testing and integrating RF systems (radios, antennas, networking, COTS components, etc.)
• Strong experience working in a Linux environment
• Programming/scripting experience with Python, Bash, MATLAB, and/or C/C++
• Experience creating and executing test scripts and test strategies
• Familiarity with RF theory and digital communications concepts
• Hands-on experience with RF lab test equipment (spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, etc.)
• Strong communication and documentation skills (MS Office proficiency required)

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with Software Defined Radios (SDR) such as Ettus USRP
• Familiarity with UHD, RFNoC, GNU Radio, or related SDR software stacks
• Experience with Ettus X310/X410 platforms
• Digital signal processing (DSP) background and MATLAB signal analysis experience
• Experience with FPGA development (Xilinx preferred)
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI and Artifactory
• Experience using Git or other version control systems
• Experience supporting tactical RF communications systems, secure communications, or crypto devices
• Familiarity with tactical data links (Link 16, TTNT, SRW, etc.)
• Airborne test or field/range testing experience
• Knowledge of AJ/LPI/LPD techniques

Additional Details

• Role is primarily onsite, with potential hybrid flexibility depending on project requirements
• Domestic travel may be required 1–2 times per year for test events
• Some assignments may support flight testing activities
