About the RoleWe are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical
Transportation Control Tower Analyst - Ocean to support global ocean freight operations across import and export flows. In this role, you will provide end-to-end shipment visibility, manage exceptions, and coordinate across carriers, ports, and internal teams to ensure efficient and reliable transportation.
You will act as a central point of contact across the supply chain, proactively identifying disruptions and driving resolution to maintain on-time delivery, cost efficiency, and compliance.
Note: Prior
ocean freight experience is required for this role.
Key ResponsibilitiesOcean Freight Operations- Manage international ocean shipments (FCL and LCL) from origin through final inland delivery
- Track vessel schedules, port congestion, rollovers, and ETA changes
- Monitor and resolve shipment exceptions, including delays, detentions, demurrage, and customs holds
- Coordinate pre-carriage and on-carriage activities, including drayage and intermodal movements
Carrier & Stakeholder Coordination- Serve as a liaison between ocean carriers, NVOCCs, freight forwarders, ports, and logistics providers
- Monitor carrier performance against KPIs, including transit times and reliability
- Support service lane management and carrier allocation strategies
Exception Management & Issue Resolution- Manage shipment issues within a control tower or case management framework
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Communicate risks, impacts, and recovery plans to stakeholders
Data Analysis & Reporting- Analyze transportation data to identify trends, risks, and performance gaps
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI or Tableau
- Provide actionable insights to improve service levels and efficiency
Cost Optimization- Identify opportunities to reduce freight and accessorial costs
- Support rate analysis and carrier performance review processes
- Monitor and dispute demurrage and detention charges
Compliance & Documentation- Ensure compliance with international trade and customs regulations
- Validate Bills of Lading and shipping documentation accuracy
- Assist in resolving customs clearance issues
Process Improvement- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance shipment visibility and operational efficiency
- Support system implementations, carrier onboarding, and process standardization
Minimum Qualifications- Hands-on experience in ocean freight operations (required)
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) or control tower platforms
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in a global control tower environment
- Knowledge of demurrage and detention management
- Experience using Power BI or Tableau for reporting and dashboards
- APICS or CSCMP certification
