Job Summary

The Manager, Competitive Intelligence is a member of the Enterprise Products Guild in the Data Analytics and AI team.

This position will be a technical and subject matter expert in competitive intelligence data. This is an individual contributor role that entails hands-on data analysis & engineering skills in SQL to build, test, and manage data products supporting analytics, reporting and machine learning needs. The Manager will also partner with other Data Analytics and AI Guilds/Pods to understand emerging needs and priorities and support departmental initiatives in the areas of data governance, data management, analytics, and AI.

This hybrid technical role includes collaborating with business disciplines, IT, and external 3rd parties to support new data engineering technologies and help deploy new features and patterns to production.

Candidate Profile

Education and Experience Required
  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or similar quantitative discipline required and three or more years of progressive experience in data management, analytics, data warehousing, or data science

    OR

    Two or more years of progressive experience in data management, analytics, data warehousing, or data science and a Master's degree
  • Proven experience working with SQL and MS Excel for data analysis and data engineering
  • Proven experience in supporting and maintaining software applications and products, preferably in Python and SQL
  • Experience with data analysis/programming languages (SQL, Python, Spark)

Education and Experience Preferred
  • Working on projects with Agile framework
  • Understanding reservation and revenue management data
  • Understanding and supporting code written in SAS
  • Cloud Data Warehouse (Snowflake or other data warehouses)

Core Work Activities

Demonstrating and Applying Discipline Knowledge
  • Support data product development using Snowflake SQL and/or Spark including:
    • Facilitate data integration & exchanges with internal and external data providers
    • Support customer journey tagging & tracking requirements for reservation & revenue management data collection
    • Hands-on design of data products in Snowflake to enable reporting and analytics
    • Develop & automate data engineering jobs using stored procedures & task schedulers
  • Identify new ways of engineering existing data or acquiring new data sources to support development of customer data products
  • Act as a bridge between IT and analytics teams facilitating data shares in a timely and accurate manner
  • Collaborate with peers and Senior Manager, Data Strategy & Management to develop systems and technologies that promote automation & monitoring
  • Act as a trusted subject matter expert & partner with analytics teams to make recommendations on data usage
  • Perform user acceptance testing and build quality assurance plans for new data products
  • Prepare technical and user documentation for data governance and user training

Managing Responsibilities with Stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders across the organization
  • Update stakeholders on key initiative wins and opportunities, respond to concerns, and solicit feedback
  • Engage leadership to develop and execute action plans to address gaps
