Power BI Developer

Description

We are looking for an experienced Power BI Developer to support reporting and analytics initiatives for a life sciences organization in Evanston, Illinois. This Long-term Contract position focuses on building high-quality dashboards, strengthening data models, and improving report performance for business users. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in Power BI along with a solid understanding of data optimization and scalable reporting solutions within a pharmaceutical or related regulated environment.

Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that deliver clear, actionable insights to stakeholders.
Develop and refine complex data models to support accurate reporting, efficient analysis, and scalable business intelligence solutions.
Optimize report performance by improving queries, streamlining datasets, and applying best practices for data retrieval and visualization.
Partner with business and technical teams to gather reporting needs and translate them into effective analytics deliverables.
Create and support reporting solutions that incorporate data from multiple sources while maintaining consistency and reliability.
Troubleshoot reporting issues, investigate data discrepancies, and implement fixes to improve usability and accuracy.
Contribute to SSRS and related reporting efforts when needed to support broader business intelligence objectives.
Document reporting logic, data definitions, and development standards to support long-term maintainability and team collaboration.

Requirements

Proven hands-on experience developing reports and dashboards with Microsoft Power BI.
Strong background in advanced data modeling for analytics and business intelligence applications.
Demonstrated success improving query execution and overall report performance.
Experience working in pharmaceutical, life sciences, or another highly regulated industry environment.
Working knowledge of SSRS and broader reporting toolsets.
Familiarity with JavaScript-based technologies such as React.js and Redux is preferred.
Ability to translate business needs into well-structured reporting solutions and visualizations.
