Job Title: Apigee and JavaScript Developer

Job Location: Chicago, IL

Job Type: Contract

Job Overview:

Pay Range: $55hr - $60hr

Requirement/Must Have:

Hands-on Google Apigee experience with Apigee Edge or Apigee X.
Strong JavaScript skills for developing and maintaining Apigee policies.
Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles.
Experience implementing API security including OAuth 2.0, API keys, and JWT.
API lifecycle management including development, deployment, versioning, and retirement.
Ability to monitor and troubleshoot APIs using analytics and logs.
Experience integrating APIs with backend systems and microservices.
Strong collaboration and documentation skills.

Experience:

Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing APIs in production environments.
Experience working with API gateways and backend integrations.
Experience troubleshooting performance, latency, and throughput issues.

Responsibilities:

Design, build, version, and maintain RESTful APIs using Apigee.
Develop and configure custom Apigee policies using JavaScript, XML, and native extensions.
Implement API security controls such as OAuth 2.0, JWT validation, API keys, quotas, and rate limiting.
Integrate APIs with backend systems, microservices, and cloud services.
Monitor and optimize API performance using analytics and logs.
Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to support CI/CD pipelines and deployments.

Should Have:

Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure.
Knowledge of Node.js for extending API functionality.
Understanding of microservices architecture.
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.
Experience with API testing tools or frameworks.

Skills:

Google Apigee (Edge or X).
JavaScript.
RESTful API design.
API security (OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys).
API lifecycle management.
Performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
Backend integration.

Qualification and Education:

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
