Python Programmer
Coding and Classification of Psychometrically Validated Assessment Instruments
Duration: Fall semester; 14 hours per week
Reporting Structure: This is a non-management position within the Division of Computational Health Sciences within the University of Minnesota Medical School, and within the Academic
Health Center at the University of Minnesota. The Division of Computational Health Sciences is an interdisciplinary academic unit, where faculty, trainees, students and domain experts from diverse backgrounds including data sciences, computing, statistics, epidemiology and human computer interaction. We collect, analyze, and interpret complex, multi-scale real-world data from large-scale and multi-modal data in biomedical research, cohort databases, and clinical care.
Department: Department of Surgery
General: The consultant will be responsible for creating Python programs to process flowsheet metadata, assessment instrument data and publication metadata files. The consultant will be
responsible for generating publication metadata files based on targeted literature search on both PubMed and PsycINFO. Training will be provided.
Basic Function: Identification and extraction of multiple features of psychometric assessment instruments (construct measured, development method, respondent, version, etc.) using Python
programs; Development and execution of Python programs to process flowsheet answer lists, i.e., assessment question responses scales, such as never-sometimes-always, yes-no, mild- moderate-severe, etc.); Development and execution of Python programs to generate load-ready files for an assessment instrument SQL Server database.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications must be listed on the resume.Required:
- BS in computer science, informatics, statistics or related field
- Strong Python programming skills
- Basic knowledge of database management systems
Internal:- Requires scheduled hours for this position agreed upon by the supervisor, (10-14 hours per week)
- Enrollment at the University of Minnesota or external academic University
Physical Demands:- Standing and sitting for long periods of time (e.g. 4hrs).
- Be able to lift 50lbs by yourself
Non-Physical Demands:- Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Pay and BenefitsPay Range: $20-35 an hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
