Location: Wilmington, MA Zip code: 01887 Start Date: Immediate Contract: 6 Months Contract to Hire Tags: #SeniorPrecisionAssemblyTechnicianjobs; #Wilmingtonjobs; Description: Our client is look for an exceptional Senior Precision Assembly Technician with 20+ years of hands-on precision assembly experience, ideally in a development or R&D environment and preferably with experience building hardware for space applications. This is a great fit for someone who is highly independent, self-driven, and comfortable working in ambiguity. In this role, you won"t always have a perfect process or complete instructions - you"ll need to quickly find the right information, ask smart questions, and keep work moving. Our client needs someone who can learn fast and contribute from day one. What You"ll Do: *Perform precision assembly of optical, mechanical, and electro-mechanical components. *Work in Class 100 (ISO 5) clean room and laboratory environments. *Assemble, bond, and handle delicate, miniature components to extremely tight tolerances, including micron-level work. *Perform lapping to achieve demanding flatness, parallelism, and angular requirements. *Safely handle sensitive optical hardware such as lenses, mirrors, and optical subassemblies. *Read and interpret manufacturing instructions, drawings, blueprints, and CAD models. *Maintain strict component traceability. *Troubleshoot complex assembly issues and help determine effective corrective actions. *Partner closely with engineering and cross-functional teams to improve assembly methods, documentation, and manufacturability. *Drive continuous improvement to reduce errors, defects, scrap, and rework. *Take initiative during downtime and independently move valuable work forward. *Lift and transport items up to 32 lbs. What You Bring: *20+ years of precision assembly experience. *Experience in a development environment strongly preferred. *Experience assembling space hardware strongly preferred. *Proven ability to be self-directed, decisive, and resourceful. *Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to rapidly gather information when things are unclear. *Experience with optical, mechanical, and electro-mechanical assembly. *Comfort working in clean room environments. *Strong communication skills and the ability to provide useful feedback to engineers and program teams.
