MAINFRAME AUTOMATION LEAD / MANAGER

Location: Nashville, TN/ Lake Mary, FL/ Pittsburgh, PA/ Somerset, NJ

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Automation Lead to drive enterprise-wide automation, resiliency, and operational excellence initiatives across large-scale mainframe environments. This role requires deep expertise in z/OS, REXX, Disaster Recovery, Automation Frameworks, DevOps, and ServiceNow integrations, along with strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the enterprise mainframe automation strategy.

• Design and implement automated failover and disaster recovery solutions.

• Develop automation frameworks to improve reliability and reduce operational effort.

• Establish SLOs, SLIs, alerting standards, and automated remediation processes.

• Lead troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and operational improvements.

• Partner with infrastructure, applications, cyber, risk, and compliance teams.

• Drive automation adoption, documentation, and engineering best practices.

• Mentor and lead technical teams while ensuring knowledge sharing.

 Required Skills

• Expert-level REXX scripting and z/OS administration

• Mainframe automation frameworks and system state management

• Multi-site failover and disaster recovery automation (GDPS, Safeguarded Copy)

• REST APIs and enterprise systems integration

• DevOps tools such as Jenkins (Zowe Plugin), Ansible, CI/CD

• ServiceNow ITSM workflow automation

• AIOps/Event Management platforms (Moogsoft or equivalent)

• Strong knowledge of SQL, JCL, ISPF/TSO

• Git, peer reviews, change management, and automation governance

• Extensive experience leading mainframe automation initiatives in large enterprise environments.

• Proven expertise in resilience and DR automation.

• Strong experience with DevOps and infrastructure automation.

• Experience managing KPIs, operational metrics, and executive reporting.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
