Job Title:Testing Lead (MMIS)
Location: Pierre, South Dakota -On‑site
Duration:12 months
 
Position Overview -
The Testing Lead will be responsible for creating and executing comprehensive test scenarios for enhanced or newly developed Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS). This role involves coordinating testing efforts with business stakeholders, system project leads, and IT teams; conducting business-side testing; tracking and documenting results; and supporting remediation activities. The candidate must have hands-on MMIS testing experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently while leading testing-related efforts for federally and state-mandated Medicaid system changes
 
Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate business‑side testing activities for enhanced or newly developed Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS)
  • Develop, document, and execute comprehensive test plans and test case scenarios across multiple integrated systems
  • Coordinate testing efforts with system project leads, IT teams, and business stakeholders
  • Execute testing, review and track results, identify defects, and assist with issue remediation and retesting
  • Maintain working knowledge of supported business areas, processes, and inter‑system dependencies 
  • Participate in research, analysis, planning, and implementation related to federal rules, state mandates, and policy changes 
  • Organize, lead, and facilitate project‑related meetings as required 
  • Document testing activities and prepare status updates and feedback reports for leadership and stakeholders 
Required / Key Skills
    • Proven hands‑on experience with MMIS testing (mandatory) 
    • Strong ability to analyze data, reason logically, and solve problems effectively
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
    • Ability to interpret and apply regulations, policies, and procedures 
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines independently 
    • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and within cross‑functional teams
    • Experience working directly with business stakeholders and IT teams in a structured testing environment 
Preferred Skills
  • Prior experience working on state Medicaid or public sector healthcare systems
  • Experience supporting system changes driven by federal or state healthcare regulations
  • Ability to lead testing discussions and act as a primary testing point of contact for stakeholders 
  • Experience preparing formal testing documentation and executive‑level reports 
  • Familiarity with complex, integrated enterprise systems beyond MMIS
